The DAR Rapid Transit Agency ( DART )was established by the Government Notice Number 120 of 2007 under the Executive Agency Act No 30 of 1997 to improve effectiveness in addressing the transport constraints faced by the Dar es Salaam City. Specifically the Agency was established for the purpose of planning, coordinating, and facilitating the provision of Urban Transport facilities and services so as to ensure improved traffic management in the Dar es Salaam City.
To meet its mandate of facilitating the provision of quality and rapid mass transport system in efficient, sustainable and cost effective manner, the Agency invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanian Citizens to fill in the following positions in different divisions within the Agency.
1.4 TOWN PLANNER II – 1 POST
1.4.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Co-ordinate and communicate with other institutions/organizations, Local Government Authorities, Transport Authorities, Dar es Salaam City residents and other service providers on improvement and proper land uses along the corridor for its sustainability.
• Assessing infrastructure requirement along the corridor including road access, bus stands and packing for various transport models.
• Preparations and analysis of Resettlement Action Plan mitigation issues.
• Developing the initial design ideas or design ideas or improved transport infrastructure such as pedestrian priority schemes, car packing areas etc.
• Moping various Land uses along the corridor using information technology systems and assessing their potential and impacts to the dart system.
• Conduct Field investigations in order to compile and analyse data on their potential and impact on the DART system to the economic, social and physical aspect of the city.
• Prepare proposals for new projects such as settlements upgrading or redevelopment along the DART corridor and presenting them to the appropriate authority for further actions.
• Ensuring that all changes in the use of land are incorporated in drawings.
• Keep informed about policy and legal issues involved in the city physical development.
• Performs such other related duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
1.4.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors Degree/Advanced Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning from any academic Institution recognized by the TCU/Government of Tanzania.
1.4.3 REMUNERATION
• Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Institution’s Salary Scale TGS E.
