Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) is one of the largest humanitarian organizations in Tanzania. The TRCS vision is a strong, credible and dependable national institution that supplements government efforts in achieving social and economic justice and growth through provision of effective humanitarian services. TRCS is looking for a qualified person to fill the above position, in support of the Emergency Assistance to Refugees in Tanzania project, implemented in close collaboration with American Red Cross (ARC) and United States Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (BPRM). This project focuses on improving and sustaining health status of vulnerable refugees in Tanzania’s Nyarugusu Camp, based in Kigoma Region. The project also promotes healthy behaviors in the camp, during and after repatriation, as well as provision of comprehensive health services to both refugees and host communities. The position is full time based in TRCS Regional Office in Kigoma-Tanzania, with frequent support visits to the Nyarugusu Refugees camp.
This position reports to American Red Cross Tanzania Program Manager, and works collaboratively with TRCS Kigoma Regional Coordinator and the larger Emergency Response program team.
Specific duties and accountabilities
In coordination with TRCS Emergency field staff and ARC team:
1. Ensure the project stays on time, scope and budget.
2. Enable focused planning, coordination and management support for effective project implementation
3. Support project procurement planning and execution, including general supply chain management
4. Contribute to timely and quality project performance management, documentation and regular reporting – both narrative and financial.
5. Facilitate project’s collaborative relationships and partnerships with similar minded agencies, including UN bodies, and other Red Cross movement partners
Qualifications and Expectations:
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in social sciences, community health, community development, disaster management, project management or related fields is required. At least five years working experience in the NGO sector, leading or managing emergency projects. Previous experience in similar position with Emergency Health, Disaster or Refugee operation projects is strongly preferred. S/he must be fluent in both English and Kiswahili, with strong written and verbal communication skills and with ability to teach and train others.
