Jhpiego is implementing a number of projects in Tanzania and wishes to fill the following position:
Intern – Gender and male involvement – Maternal and Child Survival Project (MCSP) – 1 position [Dar es Salaam]
Position Reports To: Technical Advisor - Gender
Overview:
Intern for gender integration will assist the technical advisor for gender to spearhead the gender integration and male involvement activities for MCSP USAID-funded program for Mara and Kagera regions. Working closely with the Technical Advisor for gender and technical officers in regions, the intern will support provision of strategic and programmatic oversight for the design, development, and implementation of gender portfolio within the project. Intern will support collaboration between MCSP and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (RHMT, CHMTs, and FHMTs), and partner organizations. In relation to gender integration; MCSP/TZ aims to 1) Improve the quality of care for RMNCH by ensuring respectful, gender-sensitive care across the continuum of care; 2) Constructively engage men in RMNCH preventative and care services at both the facility and community-levels; 3) Mitigate RMNCH risks posed by gender-based violence (GBV) through facility, community and household-based dialogues by health providers, CHWs and community. To better inform the design of these strategies as well as the project overall, MCSP/TZ will conduct a gender analysis, which will be undertaken as part of the initial assessments to design the RMNCH community intervention
Responsibilities:
Under the leadership of the Gender technical Advisor, the Intern will perform the following tasks:
Provide support to implement the planned activities under gender integration
Planning and participating in gender Training of trainers in Mara and Kagera regions through reviewing sessions identified and agreed by the MoH to address disrespect on maternity care/ Disrespected and abuse D&A) male engagement and GBV in MCSP program.
Participate in preparing training and conducting gender trainings to health care workers in Mara and Kagera regions
Plan and conduct orientation training to Regional and council health management teams in target regions
Provide gender inputs in various documents and meeting as per request
Participate in planning and conducting gender baseline assessment in Mara and Kagera
Conduct site visits to ensure incorporation of gender integration is happening to the end line beneficiary
Draft documentation of gender integration process for the learning purposes
Qualifications and Requirements:
Advanced degree in social science or community development or public health. Master’s degree in Public Health will be an added value.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-discipline team-based organizational structure
Strong decision making skills and results oriented approach
Excellent written and spoken Swahili and English. Presentation, communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Tanzania healthcare system, particularly the public health system in Tanzania preferred
Strong skills in word processing and Excel spread sheets
Ability to travel up to 40% time
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding USAID programs could be desirable
Understanding of RMNCH service deliveries and management

Stores Manager - 1 Position [Dar es Salaam]
Position Reports To: Finance and Operations Director
Positions Supervised: Stores Officer/s
Overview:
The Stores Manager is expected to provide overall maintenance of Jhpiego stores including training materials, models, office stationary, and requisition of materials. The Stores Manager will maintain stores systems/registers including all records of items in stock, dispatch and keeping an up to date record of all inventories. The Stores Manager will ensure roll out of stores systems/stock registers to other Jhpiego Regional offices and will also work closely with the Finance and Operations Director for better management of stores. S/he will work closely with the Finance and Operations Director and will proactively identify gaps and make suggestions for improvement.
Responsibilities:
Ensures that store systems are established and implemented for monitoring all items in the store.
Responsible for maintaining stores systems/registers (GRNs, SINs, etc.) including all records of items in stock, dispatched, received, borrowed or returned and keeping an up to date record of all inventories.
Responsible for receiving and verifying all items ordered as per the LPO
Ensure that the store is kept clean and neat at all times with no dumping of unusable materials.
Oversees the maintenance of the Jhpiego stores and ensures that all materials, models, stationary and computer equipment is properly stored and accounted for while ensuring all shelves are well labeled and arranged.
Ensure that store security and proper usage of materials is maintained while ensuring that training materials are returned in good condition.
Responsible for generating purchase requests and tracking status
Responsible for maintaining all Dar es Salaam and regional office assets ensuring that they are tagged. All items purchased in Dar es Salaam should be tagged before they are dispatched to regional offices
Plan for and coordinate a physical inventory of all Dar es Salaam & regional office assets on a semi-annual basis and update the asset register regularly
Responsible for making proposal for disposing obsolete or unused items
Supervises the stores officers
Provides regular feedback to the Finance and Operations Director on routine stores operations
Manage and operate store/inventory management system
Assume other responsibilities, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
University degree in stores management/supply chain or related
Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office
Minimum five years’ experience in a similar position
Knowledge in QuickBooks or store management information system is an added advantage
Experience working in a busy office within the private sector especially with an international organization
Store keeping and asset management experience
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
