Directorate Of Legal Services
Position: Manager - Litigation
Reports to: Director of Legal Services
Key duties and responsibilities:
Assists the Director of Legal Services in the formulation of short and long term work programs pertaining to Litigation matters.
Represents the Fund in the courts of laws and tribunals and ensures Fund's interests are effectively safeguarded.
Researches and assists in the formulation and review of Litigation policy and ensures compliance to the policy.
Assesses and evaluates the performance of litigation function in the Fund and advises the Director of Legal Services on best practices for litigation Management.
Prepares, reviews and maintains Fund's pleadings and other legal documents in accordance with the best practices and effectively manages all risks related to litigation.
Manages Fund's Case Registers, Case Files and ensures proper handling of sensitive cases.
Ensures high level of performance of staff in the Litigation department.
Puts in place reporting systems and timely submits periodic reports on performance of litigation functions.
Maintains good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Legal Services.
Qualifications and Experience:
Masters' Degree in Law and be registered as an Advocate.
Additional post graduate qualifications in the field or others such as Business Administration will be an added advantage,
Minimum Experience:
Possession of at least six (6) years' work experience in relevant field.
Competencies .
General competencies: Computer literacy, Management skills, leadership skills, Communication and
Presentation skills.
Technical competencies: advocacy skills, case management skills, legal research skills, drafting skills, negotiation skills and interpretation skills.
