This progressive Division is seeking fill the position of Chief Operating Officer with a dynamic, forward thinking achiever with expertise in Short Term and Health Insurance.
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Reporting to the Country Head for Tanzania the CCO will drive the development implementation and execution of the commercial strategy for the health and short-term business of Metropolitan Tanzania and will take leadership in ensuring business growth, ensure business growth, ensure market adoption of company’s product and will be accountable for the achievement of the target market share in the Tanzanian insurance sector.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Strategy: Develop and deliver on strategic direction and plans for the company with respect to all commercial functions including sales, marketing, business development and customer support/experience.
Business Development: Originate and manage business development opportunities that are consistent with the company’s strategy for revenue growth.
Marketing: Lead development of the company’s marketing strategy with an emphasis on achieving market penetration and sales growth with a particular emphasis on cost-effective customer acquisition and market demand generation.
Sales: Develop and implement the company’s sales strategy across key market segments to ensure that the company identifies and optimizes a clear path to aggressive growth.
Monitoring and Supervision: Develop and monitor quality metrics, establish and monitor progress against key performance indicators to ensure targets are continuously met.
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
A relevant degree from a recognized institution.
TIRA recognized insurance qualifications.
At least 10 years work experience in an overall commercial/business function in the Tanzanian Insurance Industry.
Experience at working in a “performance based” environment.
Knowledge and prior experience with Bancassurance channels
EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
Minimum 10 years of experience in insurance 2 of which must have been at a senior management level with demonstrable abilities in driving marketing and sales.
• In-depth knowledge of the Tanzanian Insurance industry
• Capacity to conceptualize, develop and operationalize commercial strategies.
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong and demonstrated strategic thinking skills
• Outstanding sales management skill
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills
• Experienced at managing diverse and geographically remote teams.
• Ability to deliver against set objectives while operating on some occasions in stressful situations.
• Communication - Demonstrated skills in both written and oral presentations (English and Swahili).
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
• Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to efficiently interact with board members.
