Pharmacy Council is a body corporate established under the Pharmacy Act Cap. 311 responsible for regulation of pharmacy practices including issuing licenses and permits to pharmacy businesses in Tanzania. The Council has the following vacancies for which a suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply.
Position : Senior Accountant
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam
Reports to : Registrar
Overall responsibility
The Senior Accountant, will be responsible for running monthly revenue recognition and costing processes of the Council; closing general ledger accurately and timely on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; reviewing and posting entries, reviewing and preparing bank account reconciliations.
Key Qualifications
University Degree/ Advanced Diploma majoring in Accounting or finance from a recognized higher learning institution. Masters degree majoring in Accounting or Finance will be an added advantage.
Certified Public Accountant, CPA (T) or ACCA and must be registered with the National Board of
Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) in the category 'of either Associate Certified Public Accountants
(ACPAs) or Associate Certified Public Accountant in Public Practice (ACPA-PPs).'
Knowledge and Competence in Information and Communications Technology (lCT) application particularly Microsoft Office (Excel), and familiarity with one of the accounting software.
Understanding of the tenets of cash control and asset management, and must be able to complete 'timely and accurate account reconciliations.
Ability to follow Government and Council policies and procedures for procurement and documentation, and ensure adequate accounting documentation for a proper audit trail.
A strong background of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and good knowledge of Public Sector Accounting and Reporting Principles and
Not less than five (5) years work experience in relevant fields out of which four (3) years should be in senior audit position.
Specific Responsibilities
Prepare payment vouchers
Properly code all transactions,
Control and enter all expenses from the cash book.
Payment of expenses that are transacted within the Council and during the field activities.
Assure balances of 'unused- portions of advances are timely deposited into Pharmacy Council bank accounts.
Prepare deposit slips for cash to be deposited into the bank account.
Post expenses, deposits; advances, receivables, pre-paid, payables, and liabilities accordingly.
Ensure proper documentation is filed with vouchers and maintained as per Council policy and procedures.
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and submit to the Management within established timeframes after appropriate review was conducted by his supervisor.
Prepare financial statement for the Council Annually.
Coordinate Audit's conducted "in the Council from time to time.
Prepare forms for payments of taxes and social , security, as required.
Timely reconcile advances, including review of receipts and bank accounts on monthly basis.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Registrar.
