INTRODUCTION:
The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) formerly known as the Federation of Tanganyika Employers (FTE) is Tanzania's apex employers' organization It was formed in 1960 to represent few private employers. ATE is registered and recognized under the Employment and Labour Relations Act (No.6 of 2004) as an Employers Union in Tanzania. It represents employers in all sectors of the national economy excluding the civil service. ATE, the Government and the Trade Unions form the Tripartite Forum which addresses all industrial relations and labour related issues at sectoral and national levels.
ATE is an active member of national, regional, continental and international organizations like: Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), East African Business Council (EABC), SADC Private Sector Forum (SPSF), Business Africa and International Organization of Employers (IOE). The Association has more than 1,300 registered members from all sectors of the national economy, of which 70% are based in Dar es Salaam and the remaining are scattered in regions of Tanzania Mainland. It has also a Zonal Office in Arusha to cater for members in Northern Tanzania.

ATE is seeking for an Officer with substantial experience and knowledge in legal matters especially labour laws and with experience working with the business community preferably in Mwanza. S/he will work to develop and implement ATE's programme of activities in the Mwanza Zonal-Office in order to advance. the WGrk-{)f-~in Mwanz8-aFlG-neig/:!oor-iRfrrewoos (Shinyanga, Simiyu, Geita, Mara and Kagera).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing and implementing ATEs' work in the zone including:
Providing general legal advice with regards to the new labour law and assistance on labour laws and employers rights to ATE members in Arusha and neighboring regions and to potential members;
Providing legal advice in cases in which the organisation intervenes, assists, or is otherwise involved in the assistance of its members;
Working in close collaboration with ATE Offices in Dar es Salaam regarding legal matters - referring cases to the Dar es Salaam Office where necessary;
Facilitating the dissemination of information about recent labour market developments;
Implementing ATE's campaign on making ATE more visible;
Developing and implementing other activities in response to regional needs and in accordance with ATE's overall mandate. Such activities include the provision of training and information on Labour laws and Human Resources
Development and Management;
Preparing and contributing to ATE's newly launched newsletter, briefing papers and to the website;
Undertaking awareness-raising activities of new developments on the labour market.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Degree from any recognised University
Working knowledge of employment and labour matters a must. Knowledge of labour laws an added advantage
Over 3 years work experience in legal field in Tanzania;
Knowledge of the Business environment in Mwanza and neighboring regions (Shinyanga, Simiyu, Geita, Mara and Kagera) an added advantage;
An excellent communicator with excellent negotiation and networking skills;
Must be computer literate.
