Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) is a subsidiary company of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) established in December 2013 and came into operation in July 2014 with a mandate to spearhead geothermal resources in Tanzania.

Position: Geographical Information Systems Specialist (1 Post) –

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Integrate field geothermal data sets (geological, geophysical and geochemical) using
ArcGIS software and produce state of art geothermal maps from different sites.
Key Responsibilities
Creates, develops and maintains geographic databases showing locations of geothermal sites, exploited geothermal fields and other potential geothermal locations.
The specialist must design and update GIS databases using various mathematics techniques, such as coordinate geometry, conversion of vectors and real analysis
Gathers, analyzes, and integrates geospatial data and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS
Enters geothermal map data' through use of a digitizer or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
Operates and maintain GIS system hardware and software.
Designs and updates database, applying additional knowledge of geospatial feature representations
Acquires, analyzes, compiles, evaluates, and reviews geospatial data
Attributes, exploits, extracts, formats, manipulates, positions, and symbolizes geospatial information with high quality, accuracy, and currency of geospatial information produced in-house or in cooperation with contractors.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Geomatics, Geoinformatics or ,equivalent course from a recognized institution,
Five (5) years of demonstrable and relevant working experience
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Demonstrated skills in the effective use and operation of ArcGIS for Desktop and extensions.
Demonstrated skills in the effective use and operation of Autodesk, AutoCAD Map 3D or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Ability to work effectively in CAD and GIS environments
Experience in spatial data acquisition and manipulation.
Good knowledge of geographic standards and coordinate systems
Knowledge of geographic data management (geo-database management)
Problem-solving skills and ability to analyse a case or situation and recommend solutions
Excellent communication (verbal and written).
Pro-activeness, creativity, innovation, and team working
Flexible and ability to work independently.
