Project Objective:
USAID/Tanzania Feed the Future (FtF) project aims to address root causes of global hunger by sustainably increasing agricultural productivity, supporting nutrition interventions, facilitating access to markets and increasing incomes for the rural poor to meet their food and nutritional requirements. The purpose of this mid-term performance evaluation is to provide an independent examination of the overall progress and achievements of FtF activities in Tanzania, specifically in these key areas:
- Agricultural value chain
- Food fortification, post-harvest processing and sustainable enterprises
- Nutrition
Position Description:
SI is seeking a local logistician/translator capable of arranging the day-to-day travel and meeting logistics for the evaluation team. The logistician/translator would coordinate team travel, schedule interviews, and provide overall support for the field evaluation. The candidate should be able to start immediately and will be available to support the team on an as-need basis over the course of the next four months (April – July) with ability to travel with the team in country for up to four weeks. The Local Logistician will support SI’s FtF Tanzania field evaluation team, which will entail the coordination of the field evaluation in Tanzania. The Logistician will report to the Team Leader (or Sub-Team Leader, when appropriate), who will be responsible for sharing details of expectations. Social Impact will oversee the overall management of the evaluation. The Logistician will assist the team with the coordination of the on-the-ground logistics.
Please note: This is a local position. Only Tanzanian citizens will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Make, coordinate and confirm appointments for meetings, interviews, focus group discussions, etc. for the Team.
- Maintain and update the meeting schedule for both sub-teams
- Make logistical arrangements for in-country hotel accommodations, ground transportation, focus group discussions, etc. for the two sub-teams.
- Provide interpreting services during meetings and interviews for expatriate members, as necessary.
- Run small errands as needed (e.g., photocopy, purchase SIM cards/minutes or cell phones, etc.).
- Meet evaluation team members at airport, if needed and requested.
- Carry out other tasks as requested by the Team Leader.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills (e.g. arranging flight/hotel reservations, meeting schedules, transportation, and purchasing supplies) required.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
- Excellent English writing skills.
- Willingness to travel up to four weeks to various districts around the country required.
- Available to start work immediately and support the team over the course of the next four months (April-July) as needed, with most of the work taking place in May during field work.
- Home location in or around Dar es Salaam preferred.
- Experience working on USAID evaluations or USAID funded projects preferred.
