Position: Audit Manager
Reports to: National Director, Regional Associate Audit Director and the Board

Purpose of the position:
To provide leadership to the Internal Audit Department of World Vision Uganda in implementing an independent management appraisal system on the organization’s financial and operations transactions to ensure compliance with WV policies and procedures and generally acceptable audit standards.
Key responsibilities
Planning:
• Develop audit plans for World Vision office based on risk assessments and communicate the audit dates, as appropriate to management.
Management of the audit function:
• Manage the audit programs and work practices in compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (SPPIA), the US Government Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAGAS) for US Government funding and World Vision’s financial manual internal audit policies and procedures.
Risk management:
• Advise management on the formulation of risk management strategies and policies in all operations areas of the organization
Quality assurance:
• Review office financial systems and report on compliance with the WVI financial policies and Generally Accepted Accounting principles and practices.
Report writing:
• Review work papers before reports are issued and issue reports of audit results from internal audits and special investigations carried out by the internal audit function.
• Provide summaries of audit results and trends to management regularly and in subsequent audits determine that audit recommendations have been tracked and implemented by management.

Staff supervision and management:
• Provide direction and support to audit team
• Ensure effective implementation of performance management processes within the audit team
• Develop a system to ensure that quality of work done by the internal auditors is regularly reviewed and appraised and corrective action taken where necessary.
• Supervise internal auditors as they conduct performance and procedural audit of all office functions and projects and, when necessary participate in such audits to provide field audit leadership and appraisals.
• Ensure effective implementation of performance management processes within the audit team
• Develop a system to ensure that quality of work done by the internal auditors is regularly reviewed and appraised and corrective action taken where necessary.
• Supervise internal auditors as they conduct performance and procedural audit of all office functions and projects and, when necessary participate in such audits to provide field audit leadership and appraisals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required
• A university degree majoring in Accounting or related or full Professional accounting qualifications such ACCA, CPA or other internationally recognized accounting qualifications
• Must have prior auditing experience of at least five years in a recognized organization. Two of these should be at a supervisory level. Experience in public accounting will be an added advantage.
• Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.

Knowledge of Sun Systems and vision excel is essential
