Saana Consulting focuses on ways to find growth work for development. Saana is currently managing Danida’s Regional Economic Integration Support Programme in East Africa in addition to working with several other partners in the East African region. The Foundation for Civil Society is a well-respected Tanzanian organisation that currently provides grants to over a thousand private sector and civil society organisations annually.
In response to a request from Danida, Saana Consulting and The Foundation for Civil Society are looking for an International Programme Manager for the new phase of the Business Environment Strengthening Tanzania (BEST) programme.
An accomplished development consultancy professional, you will be the leading member of a broad-based full-time team of 6 Tanzanian nationals. You will have at least 10 years’ experience working on programme management, public-private dialogue and working with media and civil society organisations in developing countries.
The purpose of BEST-dialogue is to improve the business environment through more inclusive and effective public-private dialogue. BEST-dialogue will continue to help the business community, and other strategic non-state actors, to design and implement advocacy campaigns and to participate in PPD in a more informed and professional manner that can be sustained beyond the life of the programme. It will support the production of quantifiable evidence that will be used to inform advocacy and dialogue, while improving the skills and management of these processes within the private sector. BEST-dialogue will bolster the efforts of PSOs and CSOs to engage in public discussions concerning the Tanzanian business environment and the importance of private sector-led growth.
The Programme Manager will work full-time in Tanzania and oversee all activities of the programme. While the direct line of reporting for this position will be to the Saana Consulting Programme Director in London, the Programme Manager will also report to the Programme’s Steering Committee. The Programme Manager will establish all finance and human resource management systems and ensure these are maintained. In addition, the Programme Manager will prepare the programme’s strategic plans and annual work plans for approval by the Steering Committee.
