About WWF
WWF was formed on 29 April 1961, when a small group of passionate and committed individuals signed a declaration that laid the foundations for what has grown into the world's largest independent conservation organization. More than 50 years on, the black and white panda logo is a well-known household symbol in many countries. Over this time, WWF's focus has evolved from localized efforts in favour of single species and individual habitats to an ambitious strategy to preserve biodiversity and achieve sustainable development across the globe. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.
Background to the Global Development Centre
WWF’s approach to international fundraising mirrors the structure of the WWF network, with fundraising strategies set and led by each office. The Fundraising Group of CMC, chaired by the WWF International Director of Development, supports strategic fundraising efforts across the network and manages the Global Development Centre.
The Centre currently consists of four full time staff who support fundraisers in WWF offices around the world to develop and implement growth strategies. They do this by providing practical advice and training, by building fundraising capacity in major gifts, membership/regular giving and legacies, and by facilitating information and knowledge sharing. The Centre is accountable to the Fundraising Group of CMC and works closely with regional growth teams and fundraisers across the network.
