The Rural Energy Agency (REA) is established under the Rural Energy Act, No.8 of 2005. Its main role is to promote and facilitate access to modern energy services in rural areas of Mainland Tanzania. The Agency is inviting applications from dynamic, energetic and proactive Tanzanians with appropriate technical skills and experience to fill the following vacant positions:
ICT Officer
Division:Administrative Services
Reports to:Planning and Database Management Manager
Roles and Responsibilities:
Coordinates services, repairs and maintenances o.f computers, printers, servers, LAN infrastructure, website, application databases and any other related equipment;
Coordinates the management of information that results from REA operations in a manner that supports the achievement of efficient operational and administrative business processes within Agency;
Develops the necessary communications network infrastructure required to integrate the REA ICT infrastructure and user needs;
Provides support on software development matters, including security, data integrity and recovery, data analysis, statistical and management reports.
Ensures REA IT based solutions are in line with Government ICT policies, rules and regulations;
Supports end users through training, trouble shooting and problem solving for computer and ICT systems related problems;
Performs any other duties as may be assigned to him/her by superiors.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Masters Degree in Computer Science (Information Technology).Must be Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA). At least five (5) years of hands-on experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development, configuration and support of windows active directory, corporate website design, and corporate intra net/extra net portal design and implementation.Experience with Microsoft.NET development framework and MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 Network Infrastructure and Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 Active Directory.
Project Engineer
Division:Technical Services
Reports to:Project Appraisal & Supervision Manager
Roles and Responsibilities
Assists in reviewing methodology for project appraisal and supervision;
Assists in screening of projects submitted for financing by sponsors champions to the Rural Energy Fund and REA;
Assists in undertaking detailed appraisal of projects which have passed the screening process to determine their financial and economic viability;
Assists in recommending projects which have proven their economic and financial viability for financing;
Assists in developing and maintaining a comprehensive database of potentially viable rural energy projects;
Assists in conducting of field surveys and inspections to determine whether projects are being implemented in accordance with the agreed work programme, technical specifications and budget limits;
Assists in providing technical support, advice, guidelines and standards to project sponsors/champions for the successful implementation of Rural Energy (RE) projects financed through the Rural Energy Fund (REF).
Assists in ensuring timely disbursement of funds to Project Developers for project implementation; ix. To perform any other duties as may be assigned to him/her by superiors.
Qualifications and Experience Required
M.S.c Engineering.
A minimum of five years (5) of successful and proven experience in a relevant position in a reputable Organization.
Surveyor
Division:Technical Services
Reports to: Technical Assistance Manager
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assists in survey and mapping activities and provides technical assistance and consultation to internal and external stakeholders;
Assists in maintaining the Geographic Information System (GIS) of the Agency;
Assists in producing fundamental GIS data in the form of base maps, control point networks and GPS reference services;
To perform any other duties as may be assigned to him/her by superiors.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Holder of Postgraduate Diploma in Geometrics, Surveying and Geographic Information System (GIS);
Training in Computer Aided Design (CAD), electrical, hydropower systems, industrial engineering or construction management will be added advantage;
Computer literacy is mandatory.
A minimum of five years (5) experience in surveying and survey data processing using survey packages and must have experience in working with ESRI packages such as ArcGIS, and ArcMap tools.
