Reporting to the Instrumentation Foreman we seek to appoint an Underground Instrument Technician at our Bulyanhulu gold mining operation in Tanzania. The objective of this position is to provide electrical service duties to the mining department within Company procedures, laid down rules, regulations and safety standards. The work roster is 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Install and maintain all instrumentation equipment underground to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimize availability.
• Overhaul all instrumentation equipment underground in accordance with set Company policies and procedures.
• Complete required testing and safety checks on all instrumentation equipment.
• Attend to breakdowns and complete necessary faultfinding.
• Carry out defined and necessary checks on all instrumentation equipment.
• Ensure total adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines as well as all other Company policies and procedures.
• Complete modifications to all instrumentation equipment in accordance with specified instructions.
• Provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experienced personnel.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• FTC certificate or Trade certificate in Instrumentation from a recognised training institution
Experience Requirements:
• Sound experience as an underground Instrumentation Technician.
• Experience in deep level trackless and conventional mining operations.
• Must be computer literate and must have thorough knowledge of PLC control systems and diagrams.
• Exposure to the challenges of operating on remote sites and in particular developing countries.
• A strong personal commitment to implement instrumentation policies and procedures, with the ability to foster strong safety culture among instrumentation personnel.
• Ability to mentor and work with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures and the willingness to share skills and knowledge with others
