Short-term Technical Experts: Climate Change and Agriculture, Africa and Latin America
We are currently seeking experienced technical experts in climate change, agriculture and related sectors for the current USAID-funded African and Latin American Resilience to Climate Change (ARCC) Program. ARCC is a global initiative that enables USAID to invest more effectively and consistently in adaptation programming and activities that support economic growth, democratic governance, health, human rights and education. These senior-level advisors and program managers will provide technical leadership, direct assessments, oversee subcontracts, and identify program needs related to climate change, vulnerability, agriculture/food security, and livelihood development objectives in Africa and Latin America. Experts are needed for short-term roles, available depending on USAID needs and project scope.
Qualifications: • Proven technical expertise in climate change, vulnerability, agriculture/food security, livelihoods, gender, coastal development, NRM, fisheries or pastoralism • M.S. in agriculture, environment, climate change or a related subject required; Ph.D. preferred • 10+ years of relevant and progressively responsible field-based experience in international development • Advanced research skills including formal surveys, PRAs and strong analytical skills • Demonstrated understanding of vulnerability assessments and their applied use • Management experience leading technical teams and overseeing implementation required • Strong communication stills, with demonstrated verbal, writing and editing skills • Fluency in written and spoken English required; fluency in either French or Spanish also required
