Educate the Children is a nonprofit
organization founded and registered in 1998. The organization seeks to promote
quality elementary education with a particular interest on highly talented but
financially challenged Tanzanian children. In pursuit of its mission the
organization operates a school; St. Joseph's Nursery and Primary School in
Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam. The school is famous for maintaining a decent
academic record since its founding.
We are seeking innovative,
eloquent and inspiring individuals to fill teaching roles in Arts and Vocational skills, Science,
English and Maths to children aged 6 to 14. The individuals will have
demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and orally in English. This task
involves the creation of teaching notes & aids, schemes of work and lesson
plans in a creative and succinct manner.
The ideal candidates will be a
person of reputable conduct, inspiring, articulate and self-motivated to attain
difficult tasks with utmost zeal, passion and commitment. (S) he must be a
demonstrated leader with exemplary negotiation skills, charismatic team
leadership and an avid learner willing to learn as much as to offer learning.
(S) he will have experience in teaching and creation of learning programmes in
an English speaking environment preferably in a primary school. The candidate
will have experience working in a high pressure environment to meet tight
deadlines.
The Arts and vocational skills teacher will lead the schools’ efforts
in integrating arts in its many manifestations as a tool for delivery of
otherwise encrypted knowledge across all disciplines including the sciences.
(S) he will advise the principal on the creation of the teaching-learning content
and the design of the school’s “Art for innovative learning program”. (S) he
will lead the pupils in the creation of their own expressive art material by
providing the necessary advise, identifying the requisite learning facilities
and other resources.
The Science teacher will lead the school’s efforts in embracing the
sciences as the foundation of all teaching and learning. (S)he will provide
insight to the school management on how to cultivate a “culture of science”
while putting the pupil at the center of the learning process. The science
teacher is expected to lead the creation of innovative programs that foster
experiential learning and experimentation based on natural surroundings. (S) he
will work closely with the Principal in developing the school’s science
learning model.
The English teacher will be a lover of the English language in all its
manifestations. The candidate will have demonstrated ability and experience in
the teaching of English among a Swahili speaking population. (S) he must be exposed
to international English teaching standards with some training and/or
certification in the teaching of the English language. The candidate will
engage with other staff at St. Joseph’s Nursery and Primary School in fostering
an environment where pupils are excited and passionate about learning the
English language and are eager to speak it at all times. (S) he will work
closely with the head of academic programs in developing the necessary tools
for the teaching of the English language at the school.
The Maths teacher will lead our pupils in learning fundamental numeracy
skills. (S)he will develop programs that will encourage passion for Mathematics
as a key discipline among pupil across the school. Through training and
experience the Maths teacher will advise the school’s management on the
development of a teaching model, requisite facilities, key resources and
teaching techniques that will foster a passion for Mathematics among the pupils
