The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is recruiting for the position of Information Management Assistant. The position is available to start at the end of June 2013.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent is responsible for systems operation in the Information Program Center (IPC), basic system administration of post’s telephone and radio systems and assists with the day-to-day operations of the unclassified and classified pouch/mail operations. Incumbent must be available for after hours work weekdays, weekends, and Embassy holidays as required. This position requires a Top Secret clearance.

QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item:
- Professional certifications such as MCSE or MCSA in Windows 2003, Comptia A+ and Comptia Network+ and CSSP.
- Two years of progressive experience, primarily in computer system and local area networks required
- Level IV written and spoken English required
- Must know the function of the various sections in order to help identify appropriate solutions. Must be able to become familiar with local shipping and customs regulations and practices. Must have thorough understanding of current mainstream operating system technologies, as well as major applications like mail server, database, and security software.
- Incumbent must be able to work independently with minimum supervision under stressful conditions. Must be able to read and interpret technical publications & manuals, schematic drawings, plans and specifications. Must be able to improve and show considerable resourcefulness, fabricating quick-fix emergency repairs if spares are not readily available. Must be able to learn all of the DOS Hardware and Software applications. Must be familiar with hi-speed circuitry and data test equipment and procedures, and be able to do site surveys & prepare factual & analytical reports. Must use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
SELECTION PROCESS

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizens EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
