Head, Financial Planning and Analysis - Investment Portfolio

Location: London Competitive salary with generous benefit package including civil service pension scheme and 32 days annual leave. Contract length: Indefinite Closing date: 15th April at 23.59 BST

The Head, Financial Planning and Analysis will lead on co-ordinating the strategic and operational financial Investment planning, forecasting, analysis and performance management for the British Council, acting as the principal Finance partner to the Director of Business Solutions, Programme Managers and a key trusted member of the British Council Investment Committee.

The post holder will be a forward looking and strategic thinking finance professional with strong relationship building skills, be pro-active and able to develop trust globally building collaborative relationships across Regional/SBU Finance teams and Regional/SBU Operations teams.

He/she will support Director of Business Solutions to provide financial insight and analysis that will inform effective decision making on investment strategy. This is a pivotal role and will be accountable for specific aspects in developing the Corporate Investment strategy globally, including:

o    Supporting the formulation of the strategic Financial Investment strategy and policy

o    Developing leaner and effective Investment planning and forecasting processes

o    Developing and aligning KPI Investment reporting with SBU/Regional Strategy

o    Tracking project benefits during the project life cycle and linking these to Regional/SBU Operational plans

o    Monitoring and appraising future financial Investments (£100m spend planned in 2012/13)

o    Developing financial models to support pricing and costing of contracts

o    Providing an investment framework to appraise new product development initiatives    

o    Supporting CFO and Director of Finance Operations in various Finance Change initiatives.

He/she will need to be comfortable with a highly visible senior role, during a period of significant organisational change. He/she will have a strong finance investment experience and previously worked with multi-location operational programme teams in an international setting. The post holder must also display an understanding of the organisations aims and the ability to connect with operational colleagues.
