Uwezo is a four year initiative that aims to improve competencies in literacy and numeracy among children aged 6-16 years old in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, by using an innovative approach to social change that is citizen driven and accountable to the public. Overall Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for a vibrant monitoring system for Uwezo East Africa. You will support the conceptualization of the system and ensure its implementation; you will keep accurate record of data ensuring its timely availability to inform program work. You will support the monitoring of Uwezo communication.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Understand the Twaweza monitoring and evaluation plan and articulate and align this for Uwezo East Africa;
2. Contribute to the design and development of the Uwezo monitoring system, and document existing monitoring tools drawing out complementarity;
3. Forge unity amongst various tools and actors, and create a working monitoring system;
4. Maintain and review the monitoring system and make recommendations for adjustments and fine-tuning.
5. Identify and review regularly all monitoring data needed, and offer support to program officers for proper generation and utilization of data;
6. Collect all such data in a timely manner and accurately enter the data into the system according to specified schedules;
7. Keep oversight of the media monitoring system and deliverables;
8. Contribute to developing innovative monitoring tools and approaches that fit with and support Twaweza’s and Uwezo’s way of working;
9. Develop and adhere to reporting formats which feed into Twaweza’s learning and evaluation cycles, together with the L&C Manager;
10. Liaise with the programs and other Twaweza units across East Africa to enable effective information flow and sharing.
General Responsibilities:
- Successfully implement above responsibilities and assigned activities (and associated budgets) in work plans, consistent with Twaweza Policies;
- Contribute effectively to planning, monitoring, reporting and information dissemination of Twaweza’s work;
- Comply with and foster adherence to the established Twaweza policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures;
- Participate actively in organization-wide learning and other joint activities;
- Undertake any other lawful tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Core Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.
2. Minimum 2 years’ working experience in M&E.
3. Ability to think outside of the box of current tools and techniques for monitoring.
4. Excellent networking and relationship skills and ability to deliver quality results on time.
5. Excellent writing skills in English and Kiswahili.
6. Excellent skills in Excel and experience in working with small databases.
7. Keen attention to detail, well organized.
8. Curiosity and passion to learn, be innovate, creative and get things done.
