Organizational background
The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and logistics services, food coordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of Security Guard Supervisor and under the overall Supervision of the WFP FSO/LSA and Head of Area- Office the incumbent undertakes the following responsibilities.
* Review the security situations across Bari, Nugal and Mudung regions and in particular the Berbera port on a daily basis though a network of local sources and advise/brief the Deputy Head of Security North on trends/situation that could affect WFP operations in the short/Medium term.
* Liaise with local authorities in all WFP distributions locations regularly so that in the event of a problem mediations is made easy.
* Conduct daily field trips in order to monitor the security situation in Bari, Nodal and Mudug regions constantly-before, during and after distributions.
* Ensure WFP staff tracking is maintained on a daily basis for all WFP staff in Bari, Nugal and Mudug Regions.
* Prepare security assessment reports after every field visit made independently and send these to the Deputy Head of Security North, the CO FSO, Co operation and support officer and the HoSCO in Bossaso.
* Closely monitor any security incidents related to WFP food transport, delivery or distribution.
* Be the WFP Focal point for fire-fighting equipment, first aid kits, trauma kits, staff ID cards and protective equipment allocated to the WFP field locations across Bari, Nugal and Mudug regions, ensuring that files of allocated equipment is updated.
* Once trained to do so by the FSO, Conduct regular inspections of UNHAS airstrips and terminals and provide advice and training for UNHAS ground handlers in the Bari, Nugal and Mudug regions.
* Support the Deputy Head Of Security North in investigations, compiling incident reports and security assessments in any location in Bari, Nugal and Mudug regional or individually if requested.
* Support the Deputy Head of Security North in active liaison with local source across Bair, Nugal and Mudug regions.
* Liaison with local security authorities across Bari, Nugal and Mudug regions.
* Manage the guard force at the Sub office compound in Bossaso.
* Be prepared to fill in for the Deputy Head of Security North regions in his absence
* Be prepared to conduct field trips to support staff in the field on short notice whenever requested by FSO/HoSO
* Assist field staff in making security clearance requests to UNDSS for movement
* Be on call 24/7 to support FSO/staff if required.
* Support Deputy Head of Security North in other security related matters as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Successful completion of Secondary school education.
Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible work as a military/police officer or minimum of five years working in administration/coordination/ cooperation at high level in organization/companies
Language: Fluency in both written and spoken English and Somali language is a requirement.
Knowledge: Professional back ground directly related to security issues (eg Military, police etc) Good political and social knowledge of the country.
