Main Purpose of Job:
The Training Officer, in coordination with the Senior Training Officer will be responsible for capacity building and information sharing at the community-level as well as designing and delivering workshops for other rule of law, protection, or government stakeholders.
Main Duties:
• Assist Senior Training Officer in the revision of community-based human rights training tools and modules appropriate for adult learners and relevant to their needs
• Schedule and facilitate participatory community-based protection trainings throughout Lakes States
• Work with the Senior Training Officer and Deputy Training Manager to create work plans and budgets for the training program and each training
• Schedule and help facilitate capacity-building workshops for external stakeholders in Lakes
• Coordinate closely with local leaders, activists, and chiefs to encourage participation in local level trainings
• Coordinate closely with the Return Monitoring Team regarding which communities should be targeted for trainings
• Assist with training reports to contribute to the analysis of patterns of return and raising awareness of access and protection concerns at the community level
• With the Senior Training Officer, prepare all necessary documentation for each training and training mission, including TORs, Procurement Requests, budgets, spending projections, and payment requests
• With the Senior Training Officer, prepare all necessary documentation for reconciling money spent during trainings
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Higher Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, Law, or related field
• At least 2 years community-based training experience involving human rights and/or protection
• Comprehensive understanding of human rights and protection principles
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to multi task
• Commitment to human rights and protection principles
• Strong English writing and organisational skills
• Remains productive when under pressure with the ability to prioritize effectively
• Able to work in a variety of environments and is prepared to be in the field a majority of the work week
• Respects and adheres to deadlines
• Works collaboratively with team members to achieve results
• Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender and backgrounds
• Familiarity with customary laws, judiciary systems and legal developments and issues in Southern Sudan
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Email application software
• Fluency in English, Arabic, and Dinka required
