The Department of Human Resource Management has an international reputation for high quality education, research and knowledge exchange that is relevant to the needs of the full spectrum of stakeholders in the workplace and society. In developing a critical approach to employment studies it seeks to conceptualise HRM as more than a set of functions and techniques, considering the nature and regulation of the employment relationship at the level of the workplace and broader society.
This post is designed to strengthen the department's research base, extend its research focus and contribute to the University's strategic ambition to be recognised as a leading technological university. This post will be closely connected with the Scottish Centre for Employment Research (SCER), which is located within the Department. The appointee will be expected to play a key role in the activities of SCER through the generation and management of research projects. We are seeking an individual who has research interests in the public-policy agenda around work and employment, especially in areas such as skills, employability and the relationship between work and health. The appointed person will also contribute to the Department's educational provision at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related subject and a track record of high quality publications.
