Strathclyde Business School has excellent people as evidenced by its Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) performance, considerable links to business and industry, and synergies between learning innovations and research. The Department of Management's research teaching and knowledge exchange focuses broadly on the practices and processes of management in global contexts, emphasising both managerial relevance and critical perspectives. Key areas of interest include strategic management (especially strategy making and the practices of strategizing), learning, innovation and change (with a focus on the dynamics of process), and organisation and society. Within this, the Department has several specialist fields of inquiry such as International Business, and Hospitality and Tourism Management.
The post is designed to strengthen the department's research base, extend and build upon its research focus in the areas of creativity and innovation and contribute to the University's strategic ambition to be recognised as a leading technological university. The appointee is expected to be an experienced researcher within the area of management creativity and innovation, capable of leading a research agenda within the department around this theme and contributing to Strathclyde Business School's cross-departmental teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities within the management domain. This post reflects the University's aim to combine excellence with relevance. The appointee is expected to have demonstrable academic expertise and a keen interest in developing creativity, innovation and management of change research and teaching activities within the University, therefore a PhD in management or a related area is essential.
