African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced Plant Metallurgists to actively participate in the activities of the Metallurgy Team in the provision of technical support to ensure optimum and cost effective metallurgical performance in a safe working environment.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure the achievement of optimum and cost effective metallurgical performance through active participation in the activities of the Metallurgy Team, liaise with operations and maintenance, and contribute to the training and development of Process Operators
• Provide technical input into development of training packages and provide ongoing training, mentoring and employee performance management to develop and maintain a safe, competent and results orientated Metallurgical team and to ensure that employees gain new skills and achieve their full potential
• Conduct and report or provide technical input on research and development projects
• Provide technical input to the development and implementation of Process Plant Operations’ strategies and plans, to support production objectives and optimize financial results of BGML
• Analyse and ensure the accuracy and reliability of daily metallurgical figures
• Continually review and improve every aspect of plant operation activities and identify and implement any opportunities that add value
• Advise personnel on process and product quality related aspects of the operation
• Ensure consistent quality of the product and make recommendations to improve plant metallurgical performance
• Develop and maintain reporting procedures on production, consumables, and cost and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as required
• Ensure that all employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards and any applicable legislation.
• Adhere to all BGML policies and procedures and be proactive in ensuring prime product protection
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering / Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Process Plant Operations with exposure to sulphide flotation, gold recovery by gravity and carbon-in-leach process
• Computer literacy in MS Office – Word, Excel
• Previous experience working in a multi cultural environment
