Objective of the project
The overall objective of the project is to set up and operate a Management Unit for this programme. The purpose of the programme is to strengthen democratic governance in five municipalities in Mozambique which will then be better able to provide and protect rights and freedoms provided in the National Constitution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish robust and transparent grants procedures in line with DFID guidelines
- Assess financial and administrative capacity of grantees and train and coach grantees to enhance their capacity in these areas
- Guide grantees in formulating their proposals according to DFID guidelines
- Contribute to efforts in meeting donor reporting requirements as well as reporting to DAI Europe home office
Key Qualifications:
- Strong grants management experience
- Experience in working in fragile states and or/experience in Mozambique will be a distinct advantage
- Solid understanding of CSOs and other relevant grassroots organisations in Mozambique would be desirable
- Understanding of Democratic Governance programme is desirable
- Strong skill set in reporting, finance and monitoring and evaluation
- Grant management and development of grant mechanisms
- Experience working with donors such as DFID, UNDP, World Bank
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English is essential – Portuguese is an advantage
- An advanced degree in finance, business administration, public administration, economics, or other relevant field
