Job Description (Duties):
Our client is a regional bank whose strategy is to build a world class African financial institution through the provision of financial solutions to businesses and consumers across a number of African countries.
They believe that their success in part depends on their ability to maintain a diverse, resourceful and dynamic workforce to serve their customers and as such wish to recruit the following candidate to support their operations in Tanzania.
Duties and Responsibilities
· To protect the financial strength and the reputation of the bank
· Manage Credit, Operational, market and franchise risks
· Establish an appropriate strategy and enabling policies in support of the business strategy for all lending products
· Work with other stakeholders to set-up / upgrade the risk infrastructure (people, systems etc.)
· Develop appropriate policies for different customer segments, allowing the sales team to enter approved target market segments
· Review credit products and make appropriate recommendations where and product is leading to higher losses.
· In partnership with the business take responsibility for the credit performance
· Provide hands-on training to the risk management team
· Work with the stakeholders to deliver the results within the risk governance framework
· Review, Structure and approve Credit transactions in compliance with credit policy
· Maintain a good quality and well balanced and diversified Credit Portfolio
· Manage Documentation and Disbursement; by ensuring credit compliance with local and legal regulatory requirement and the Group Credit Policy Manual.
· Manage Troubled Exposures and ensure good loan recovery
· Monitor Projects financed by the banks together with Wholesale and Retail Bank
Necessary Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with a post graduate degree an advantage.
· Minimum of 8 years experience in the banking industry.
· Experience in credit portfolio is very essential
Competencies
· Effective strategic planning and knowledge.
· Understanding of governess and legal frameworks
· Demonstrated people management skills.
· Bi-lingual would be an added bonus.
