Oxfam is an International confederation of 15 independent, non-governmental organizations working together in 98 countries to achieve our vision of ‘a just world without poverty’. Our Secretariat is based in Oxford, with advocacy and campaigns offices in Washington DC, New York, Brussels, Geneva, Brasilia and a liaison office with the Africa Union in Addis Ababa.
You will conduct analysis, research and develop advocacy strategies and relationships which influence the policies of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund as they relate to health and education. You will focus in particular on the reform and replenishment of the Education Fast Track Initiative (FTI); and on health-related World Bank and IFC policies and practices, including in relation to specific developing countries.
With the need to develop authoritative insight and recommendations in these policy areas, you must have a demonstrable understanding of the International Financial Institutions, their agendas and decision-making processes at both HQ and country-level. Specific knowledge of the FTI and the activities of the IFIs in health and education will be critical.
Politically sensitive, analytical and strategic, you will have the interpersonal and communication skills to relate well with, and influence, people from a variety of levels and backgrounds. You will have the initiative and conceptual ability to create effective strategies, undertake desk-based research and develop policy recommendations. A flexible team player, you will have experience of working with diverse alliances and coalitions, a good understanding of gender and diversity issues and the organisation and creative skills to work well under pressure, and on your own initiative at times.
You must have the legal right to work in the United States.
