The Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute [MOI) is an autonomous institution established through an Act of Parliament NO.7 of 1996 with main objective of providing primary, secondary and Tertiary care for preventive and curative health services in the fields of Orthopaedic, Traumatology and Neurosurgery as well as being role model of efficient Hospital Management in Tanzania. The Institute is also involved in Human resources development for the nation and also carries out research in these fields.
Health Administrator II

Entry Qualifications:
Holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree or Advanced Diploma in Health Service Management from a recognized institution,
Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide advice on health management services in the Institute,
To assist in supervising resources for management of health services,
To participate in preparation of budget for medical services.
To prepare periodical performance reports,
To handle staff personnel and administrative affairs,
To assist in Coordinating management of public/private mix policy. To assist in administration of referral patients,
To handle correspondences pertaining hospital services.
To assist in coordinating, analyzing and storage of medical records statistics. To draft internal circulars, letters and internal memorandum for official use. To compile monthly reports and preparation of staff meetings.

Senior Orthotist/Prothetist
Entry Qualifications
Holder of a Degree in Orthotics/Prosthetics or its equivalent from a recognized Institution. Must be registered by the respective regulatory Board/Council. Must have a working experience of 6 years in related field.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To participate in budget preparation and ensuring availability of required materials To advise the management on service improvement in the unit.
To formulate prosthesis or Orthosis design and selecting suitable materials for its manufacturing. To advise the Orthopaedic surgeon on the design of final fitting function and appearance of the prosthetic/orthotic devices.
To undertake coaching of junior orthopaedic technologists on new techniques.
To perform any other duties related to his/her work as assigned by his/her superior.

Medical Record Technician II
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of an Ordinary Secondary School Certificate and Medical Records Certificate or its equivalent from a recognized Institution, Must have computer skills,
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To collect, tabulate, analyze and interpreting disease and patient statistics, To receive and register patients and direct them appropriates.
To update information on admissions, discharges and deaths.
To create and maintain index in alphabetical order and tracing missing files,

Physiotherapist II
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Diploma in Physiotherapy from any recognized Institutions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To carry out duties of a physiotherapist. To keep and maintain patient's records.
To ensure proper up-keep of equipment in the unit.
To perform other duties related to his/her work as assigned by hislher supervisor.

Medical Doctor II
Medical Doctor II (17 posts) - (To work in Orthopaedic/Trauma, Neurosurgery and Anaesthesiologyunits).
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or MBCHB or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Must have completed one year Internship and be registered by the Medical Council of Tanganyika as a Medical Doctor. The Successful candidates will work in Orthopaedic/Trauma unit (7), Neurosurgery unit (5) and Anaesthesiology unit (5). Applicants should indicate their areas of interest.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To attend in and out patients.
To attend emergency medical duties.
To ensure prescribed instructions are carried out. To conduct minor operations.
To assist Surgeons at operations. To participate in major ward rounds.
To ensure patients are properly prepared for surgery. To participate in research activities.
Candidates will be expected to carry out duties and responsibilities of Medical Doctor II in their respective areas of profession.

Pharmaceutical Technician II
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of a Diploma in Pharmacy from any recognized Institution. Must be registered by the National Pharmacy Board of Tanzania.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To determine, prepare and order medicines as requires.
To store and dispense medicines and treatment instruments as per prescription to patients and staff.
To educate public/patients on proper use of medicines.
To provide information on reaction resulting from the use of medicine.
To prepare report on the use of drugs and treatment instruments in the Institute.

Radiographer II
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of a Diploma in Radiology from any recognized Institution. Must be enrolled in the register of Medical Radiology and Imaging Professionals as a Radiographer.
Main Duties and Qualifications:
To perform duties of a Radiographer To maintain x-ray equipments
To ensure quality of x-rays taken.
To prepare contrast media and chemicals for x-rays.
To perform other duties assigned by his/her supervisor.

Laboratory Technologist II
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of a Diploma in Laboratory from any recognized Institution. Must be registered by health Laboratory Practitioners Council.
Duties and Responsibilities
To assist in receiving, extracting and recording samples for laboratory examinations. To assist in preparation of laboratory equipment and chemicals.
To assist in storing laboratory tests, examinations and maintaining records.
To assist in carrying out laboratory examination of samples and recording the results. To performing any other duties related to his/her work as assigned by his/her superior.

Health Attendant II
Entry Qualifications:
Having completed and Ordinary Secondary School education with at least one year certificate in nursing course.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To carry out general cleaning of wards and its surroundings.
To care for bed ridden patients including bed baths and feeding. To provide and remove bedpans and urinal bottles.
To collect patients' linen for laundry services.
To send specimen to laboratories and collecting results. To perform other duties assigned by his/her superior.

Consultant Neurosurgeon
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Master of Medicine (M.Med/PhD) in the field of Neurosurgery. Must have super specialization training in the related field from any recognized Institution. Must have working experience of at least 9 years as a Specialist.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provision of consultative medical services in his specialty.
To supervise and coordinate research activities in Neurosurgery.
To plan, execute, supervise and evaluate medical services in his/her area of specialty.
To monitor the exercise of investigating, following up and establishing control measures of the main causes of diseases in hislher related specialty.
To supervise and teach medical students undertaking degree, masters and intern doctors.
To provide advice to the Management of the Institute on how to improve medical services in his/her related field.
To supervising and coordinate outreach programs To provide Medical legal advice.
To organizing the preparation of budget ot-Medical Directorate.
To supervise the exercise of preparation of health policies and treatment manuals and other Government health plans.

Entry Qualifications:
Holder of (Certificate in enrolled nursing course/Diploma in Nursing/Bsc Degree in Nursing) from a recognized Institution. Must be registered by the Tanzania Nurses and Midwifery Council. Must have undergo at least a One year Course in Anaesthetist.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To performs pre-operative patient visits as required.
To prepare operating room; and Anaesthestic equipment and procedures
To administer, monitor and document the process of Anaesthesia and recovery as required. To respond timely emergency situations.

To adhere to the rules and regulations of DDA.
To administer drugs and other treatments as prescribed by medical doctors. To provide health education to patients and their relatives.
