Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Geologist (Resource) based at North Mara Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Geology Section Leader and the role holder will be accountable to implement drilling program, manage field logistics, collect geological data, and evaluate drilling results on daily basis in a safe and cost effective manner; and evaluate sections maps and plans for the drilling program.
This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Identify, notify and/or rectify all unsafe acts, situations and hazards within the workplace.
• Contribute to the appropriate business outcomes by ensuring timely delivery of accurate geological data, reports and documents.
• Ensure reduction of cost by optimizing drilling plans.
• Ensure regular update of geological/structural maps is completed accurately and timely.
• Ensure reports are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Ensure end of month reconciliation and geology reports are completed accurately and on time.
• Assist on a daily basis with supervision of drilling programmes.
• Assist with and participate in training programs for the development of all Geologist, Geological Technicians and Assistants.
• Undertake sectional interpretation, solid modeling and block modeling in a timely fashion.
• Ensure samples are taken / prepared to the highest standard.
• Ensure appropriate sample and assay quality control measures are in place, adhered to, monitored and reported on.
• Assist in collection of structural, lithological and geotechnical data and construction of 3D model format (and other relevant format) that can be incorporated into block models.
• Build geostatistical block model for mine planning.
• Provide necessary input into completing weekly, monthly, quarterly and LOM planning.
• Prepare Minex drilling budgets.
• Liaise with assay laboratory to ensure QAQC procedures are followed.
• Validate all data used in modeling and estimation.
• Routinely check database and other relevant digital formats and ensure they are accurate.
• Develop & review resource and grade control models and practices to maximize ore recovery and geological knowledge.
• Ensure correct use of estimation methods and parametres.
• Generate resource & grade control models.
• Ensure regular update of grade control modeling parametres.
• Maintain and update existing resource and grade control models with newly acquired data.
• Undertake resource reporting and reconciliation efficiently.
• Undertake effective resource reporting for yearly business plan.
• Provide technical input into mine feasibility studies.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Geology
Experience Requirements:
• 3-5 years’ experience in mine and exploration geology
• 1 years’ experience in operational leadership role
• Experience in managing exploration drilling programs
