Sumbawanga Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (SUWASA) is an autonomous water supply organization mandated to provide water and sanitation services within the urban area of Sumbawanga. It was established in January 1998 under Act No. 8 of 1997, repealed by Act No. 12 of 2009. SUWASA is advertising a senior management vacant post and Electromechanical Technician post for which suitably qualified and competent Tanzanian citizen are invited to apply.
1. POSITION : MANAGING DIRECTOR:

Subordinate : SUWASA MANAGEMENT
Salary Scale : SUWASAS' SALARY SCALE OF SUWAS L (FIXED)
Duties and Responsibilities
To ensure effective overall management and supervision of the authority's activities.
To oversee the planning and execution of water and sanitation projects.
To direct the formulation of policy proposals for consideration by the Board of Directors in relation to physical and financial
functions of the Authority.
To interpret policies laid down by the Board of Directors and issuing internal regulations and procedural instructions thereof.
To oversee the preparations and prepare annual budget for the Authority and submit to the Board of Directors for approval.
To regularly review, actual performance plans and budgets and submits reports to the Board of Directors.
To establish the responsibilities of her/his immediate subordinates and delegate the necessary authority for them to discharge their duties
To make recommendations to the Board of Directors for staffing levels required by the Authority and ensure that effective procedures are established for recruitment; training and development of staff at all levels.
To ensure that the Authority's activities conform with the laid laws applicable and reputations.
To make recommendation to the Board of Directors for fixing water and sanitation tariffs and collect revenue thereof.
To be the final authority for management decisions within the Authority, safeguards the Authority's Assets and ensuring that, the Authority is a going concern.
To ensure that, all authority's financial transactions are authorized and controlled in accordance with agreed procedures and that proper systems of internal controls are maintained.
To carry out the functions of the Authority with integrity. and due diligence.
To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors and parent Ministry.
Requirements for Appointment
Possession of Bachelor Degree from a recognized University and registered as professional by respective Professional Board. Postgraduate/Masters Degree is an added advantages; At least eight ( 8) years working experience in water sector, must have computer literate; Demonstrated ability to form, motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve objectives; Clear evidence of operational management and administrative skills; Must have strong analytical as well as oral and written communication skills; Fluent in both speaking and writing English and Kiswahili; Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the national water policy, legislation governing water supply and sanitation sector and the operating environment of water and sanitation utilities; Must have an age between 35 and 50 years.
