African Innovation Foundation is hiring a Community Manager to inspire conversation and build meaningful connections around our communities of innovators, both online and offline. The ideal candidate is passionate about digital marketing, as well as savvy in spreading word-of-mouth on the streets. You'll be responsible for setting strategies to leverage content and social media to connect with millions of people every day, while maintaining a sense of community.
You'll work primarily with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo and Instagram, but will also intersect closely with teams that run our events, blogs, email and other channels. You will be responsible for developing high-level social media strategies; fostering investment in social media across the organization; working directly with internal & external teams to plan, execute and measure social media communications programs; creating trainings and presentations; build up and managing our team of Mobile Editorialists across all our social media initiatives.
You know the trends, but don’t live by them. You have a knack for transforming information into interesting conversations and stories. You understand how to integrate an existing story into a trending topic. You're confident & comfortable in executing fast-turnaround times and immediate responses. Being an innovator yourself is a plus -Ingenuity & creativity is a must.
Desired skills
Creative, diplomatic, cool under pressure and fantastic interpersonal skills
Speaking multiple languages is a plus, preferably French and English
Project management or organisational skills
In-depth knowledge and understanding of online community platforms and their respective participants (Forums, Blogs, Photo Uploads, Profiling etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios
Photography/video editing and web skills preferred.
