Living Goods Head of Recruitment

Overview
The Head of Recruitment will lead the charge to attract, recruit and develop top international talent for key positions based in Kenya, Uganda and the United States. For Living Goods to meet its goals, we need extraordinary individuals to join our small team that seeks nothing less than a disruptive reinvention of distribution in the developing world.
The ideal candidate will have a wide breadth of experience working with top leaders in the social enterprise sector and an eye to spot fresh talent.  This person will play a hands-on role in recruiting and selecting outstanding applicants who have the right attributes to thrive in one of East Africa’s most exciting social enterprises.

Responsibilities
  • Head Recruitment for Living Goods worldwide.
  • Engage and manage additional internal and external recruitment resources as required.
  • Lead Generation: To research and identify appropriate and high quality candidate pools, be it thru job posting, LinkedIn Headhunting activities, or word of mouth promotion.
  • To design and fine-tune selection matrix for choosing the optimum recruitment channels and sourcing. To research and maintain a cost-effective advertising process.
  • Screening: To identify the best candidates and lead them through the multi-tiered recruitment process. To screen applications and CV in a timely manner
  • Communication: To lead communication with candidates throughout the process to ensure the successful coordination of placements.
  • Conduct job interviews for the key managerial job positions.
  • Act as the single point of contact for Living Goods Directors regarding recruitment .
  • System Management: To design, develop and maintain the recruitment process (including job descriptions, regular measurement reporting, taking proper actions to close gaps)
  • To design and fine-tune selection matrix for choosing the optimum recruitment channels and sourcing.
  • System Improvement: To work with the LG team to seek constant improvement on our recruitment process. 
  • To explore best practices in the recruitment and staffing field and implement where appropriate.
  • Position will be based in Nairobi, or possibly Kampala.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 5 years of exceptional experience and success working with recruitment team or headhunting firms.
  • Robust professional experience leading recruitment efforts and coordinating with internal managers across multiple geographic areas and landscapes.
  • Experience working in international environment in emerging markets a plus.
  • 2-3 years experience working with and implementing applicant tracking systems and on-line databases
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, with outstanding written and verbal communication.
  • A commitment to the vision and mission of Living Goods to create a sustainable system to improve the health, wealth and productivity of the world’s poor. 
  • Willingness to travel within East Africa.
