Context/Scope:
EABL operates within a multi cultural, multinational, multi currency environment. EABL comprises four business units: KBL, EAML, CGI and UBL. KBL is further categorized into Demand and Supply. The Supply business is involved in production of beer and spirits. The Demand business is involved in marketing and pushing the product to consumers.
The Innovation Department is seen as the key driver in providing aggressive top-line growth and increasing bottom-line results. The overall goal of innovation is to assist EABL’s growth into new markets, improve quality, extend EABL’s product range, improve production processes and make cost savings.
This role will work closely with the Supply Chain team, Agencies, Marketing and Sales and team members. This role may also liaise with the Managing Director, Sales Director and other functional heads.
Market Complexity:
Keeping abreast with the ever changing needs of a growing number of sophisticated consumer base. This requires proactive marketing to maximize company market share.
Keeping abreast with evolving trade and being more sophisticated especially at retail level.
Ensuring constant change and improvements to EABL’s growing portfolio of products that operate in multiple drinks segments and channels.
Leadership Responsibilities:
This role works within the Innovation team contributing towards the departments’ goals and targets while striving to deliver results though influencing others without authority.
Purpose of Role:
To support EABL’s commercial agenda execution of the company’s strategic innovation program for East Africa as well as work across specific projects to manage the sales and commercial aspects of each launch.
TOP 3-5 Accountabilities:
•Implement developments from strategic review of commercial requirements to execute EABL’s innovation ambitions.
•Implement Innovation launches and sustain Commercial capability across EABL and Diageo Innovation in the heart of the Commercial organization by reframing Innovation’s role to the EABL way of selling, tracking and measurement akin to EABL Commercial Scorecard.
•Assist in executing regional capability and setting up infrastructure for Live Testing and ensuring that the innovation projects are grounded in commerciality and build in trade insights.
•Engaging sales teams around innovation to provide executional support to the innovation projects.
•Ensuring there is a strong input by commercial teams to manage prioritization with other business activities.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
•Degree in a business related field.
•Post Graduate qualification an added advantage.
•Minimum of 5 years marketing experience in a FMCG environment, with at least 2 years people management experience.
•Marketing management experience is required.
