PAJER, founded in 2000, is a local Kigali based NGO working with community based groups across Rwanda, on the development of youth empowerment and activities, business development and micro finance activities and humanitarian activities in Refugee Camps.
PAJER have recently entered into a new partnership with CHF to deliver the USAID funded HigaUbeho Programme in Musanzeand Ngoma. The program aims to support some of Rwanda’s most vulnerable households by –increasing their access to health and social services andproviding economic, nutritional and educational support. Key to the programme will be developing Savings and Lending Schemes, Farmer Field Schools and Nutritional advice through Positive Deviance Hearth Groups.

USAID HigaUbeho – Nutrition Support Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
• To develop Positive Deviance Hearth Groups (FARN) in the USAID HigaUbehoprogramme areas of Musanze and Ngomaand train the leaders of these groups in nutrition education, food transformation and hygiene.
• To deliver the capacity building and training of field officers and volunteers in matters of health, nutrition and hygiene.
• To work with field officers, team and programme beneficiaries to promote healthy living, food security and nutritional training
• To coordinate all activities aimed at behaviour change in matters of health and nutrition through education fairs, hygiene practices, cooking demonstrations and the promotion of primary health care in accordance with the Positive Deviance approach.
• To promote Tippy-taps and the improvement of hygienic conditions in Abahizi households.
• To organize regular meeting with group leaders and Community Health Workers.
• To develop strong proactive relationships with partners to promote improved nutrition and health.
• To coordinate Community Health Workers to implement Community Based nutrition activities for Children Under 5
• To be responsible for the collection of health and nutrition information and data from cooperatives and PD/H groups monitor and follow up PD/H groups to ensure the successful implementation of nutrition and hygiene activities.
• To prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
• To collaborate with local authorities responsible for health and local religious leaders on the promotion of health, nutrition and food security and liaise and work with other partners and NGOs involved in health and nutrition or work with OVCs and PLHIV in the area of intervention.
Qualifications and experience:
• University Degree in nutrition or public health
• 2 years of experience in nutrition, community health and food security.(not required)
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with highly vulnerable groups.
• Familiar with Positive Deviance or FARN methodology.
• Familiar with adult education methodology.
• Familiar with participatory and community development methods.
• Flexibility to work both in a team and independently
• An excellent capacity to analyze, treat data and share information.
• Very organized, able to facilitate meetings and training sessions.
