Postdoctoral research fellow (duration 3 years) within the project MultiRights: "The Legitimacy of Multi-Level Human Rights Judiciary" , a European Research Council Advanced Grant at the Faculty of Law, University of Oslo.

Qualifications and Personal Skills
In assessing the applications, special emphasis will be placed on the quality of the project description and on the academic and personal ability on the part of the candidates to complete the project within the given time frame. Short-listed applicants may be invited for an interview at the University of Oslo.

Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree (PhD) in Law.

The study will be undertaken over 3 years, employment will be at the Faculty of Law for the whole period. The main purpose of an appointment to a postdoctoral research fellowship at universities and colleges is to qualify the holder for work in top academic posts.

The applicant must submit:

  • An application.
  • A research proposal, maximum 3 pages, in English, which gives an account of how this research will contribute to MultiRights, especially to the research topics, workshops etc planned for the final three years of the project: Rule of Law, Subsidiarity and/or Democracy
  • Planned publications
  • A progress plan for the work
  • Curriculum vitae maximum 2 pages in English or a Scandinavian language containing information about education, previous positions and any other qualifying activity.
  • A complete list of published and unpublished works. If co-authored work is included, the applicant's role must be documented with a co-author declaration.
  • Up to 50 pages of previously published works if the applicant regards this as relevant, preferably delivered electronically otherwise in 3 copies.The works must be in a Scandinavian language or English, unless otherwise agreed beforehand.
  • Certified copies of grades and transcripts, in the original language as well as an English translation. Foreign applicants are advised to attach an explanation of their university's grading system.
  • Names and contact details for at least two references.
  • Proficiency in English is required for non-native speakers, as the work will be conducted in English. Applicants who are not native speakers of English must document their proficiency in English.
