PSI seeks entrepreneurial, results-driven candidates for the position of Project Coordinator, Universal Diagnosis and Appropriate Case Management to contribute to accelerating the scale-up of Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) across the public and private sectors by harmonizing efforts and coordinating plans across multiple initiatives and partners. It is anticipated that there will be an unusually high level of potential synergies across initiatives related to increasing the use of diagnostic tests. The coordinator’s main responsibility will be to ensure that policies, standards and quality assurance procedures, training approaches, learning around provider incentives and the impact of marketing interventions on consumer and provider behaviors can all be made available to this project as quickly as possible. This position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya with an anticipated start date in Q4 2012 and will report to the Project Director, UNITAID.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the establishment of a coordination mechanism (technical committee) that will act as a platform for sharing information and development of common workplans to ensure logical and efficient sequencing and timing of activities of the RDT initiatives at the global and national levels.
- Coordinate the alignment of national RDT policy frameworks in relevant countries as these will be influenced by the various initiatives.
- Collect, package and disseminate tools and products for the public and private sectors (such as job aids, treatment algorithms, training material, supervision/medical detailing plans) across the initiatives and to others partners
- Coordinate behavior change communication strategies, particularly multi-channel communication plans to ensure that initiatives build off each other and send the same message
- Harness RDT quality control testing systems and learning for the benefit of all projects
- Ensure that the learning gained, through monitoring and evaluation conducted for each initiative, is shared across projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters in public health or equivalent experience
- 5+ years experience in coordination or communications of which at least one year is within a developing country and one year focusing on a public health issues; experience in malaria preferred
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with capacity to work and produce results within a tight timeframe
- Demonstrated experience building a network of partners; international and developing country arenas preferred
- Advanced computer skills including using websites for communication purposes, packaging material
- Excellent presentation and networking skills
- Fluency in French preferred
