Art in Tanzania (AIT) is a self-sustainable Non Government Organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania, Zanzibar, Ethiopia and Finland. Established in Dar es Salaam in 2001, Art in Tanzania currently has volunteer and internship centers in Dar es Salaam, Moshi, the Maasai tribal lands, Karatu, and Zanzibar. Over the course of a year, AIT receives over 1,000 volunteers and interns, with approximately 100 volunteers/interns in country at one time. The volunteer’s community work focuses on assisting in Educational, Cultural and Medical projects including Nursery, Primary and Secondary Education assistance, Orphan care, Women’s Groups, HIV awareness, Adult English Classes, Music production, Arts & Handicrafts and Magazine publishing.
Art in Tanzania’s Mission:
Advancement of community development through volunteer and intern projects in the fields of education, HIV/AIDS awareness, construction, sports programs and orphan care and the development of media (Mzuka Records and Fiesta Magazine) to promote social awareness.

Job description:
Art in Tanzania is looking for a hard-working Project Coordinator/Team Leader, who will be committed to the management of volunteers, interns and local staff as well as the development of Art in Tanzania’s Community Projects at our Zanzibar location.
The job:
Project Coordinator
- Monitor and evaluate our projects
- Implement the UNICEF Children’s Agenda 2012-2015
- Develop our projects, especially in marine conservation
- Place volunteers and provide them with training and support for their project
- Weekly project visits
- Promote Art in Tanzania on a local, national and international level
- Develop communication on Zanzibar's activities with new tools and articles for AIT monthly newsletter
- Manage Zanzibar House and staff
- Make weekly budget and manage Zanzibar accounts
Team Leading
- Assist volunteers during their stay in Tanzania
- Supervise and guide intern and volunteer programs
- Facilitate volunteer briefing on arrival
- Other administrative tasks
Our ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Demonstrated experience working with community development
- International experience
- Management and organizational skills
- Negotiation and liaison skills & high attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to manage staff and motivate others
- Approachable for volunteers, resilient and mature, with the ability to work alone and in a team under basic living conditions
- Fluency in English, Knowledge of Swahili helpful
Note:
Flights and Travel Insurance are self-funded. Art in Tanzania will refund the required Tourist Visa and the Class C work permit. Accommodation and food are provided. You will receive a monthly stipend of 450,000 TSH to cover living expenses while in Tanzania.
