  • Must have at least 5 articles in refereed journals since appointment as Associate Professor
  • Should have supervised postgraduate degree candidates.
  • Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
  • Should show evidence of membership of professional societies.
  • Should show evidence of continued research and effective teaching.
  • Must be recognized and registered or registerable by relevant professional boards
  • Should show evidence of contribution to University life as well as national and international life.
  • Should show evidence of academic leadership in his/her area of specialization.
(ii) Associate Professor
  • Must have a D.Phil degree or its academic equivalent, in any of the areas/fields of specialization indicated in the above named departments.
  • Normally must have at least 4 years of teaching and research since becoming Senior Lecturer or 8 years of teaching experience at University.
  • Must have at least 4 articles in refereed journals since appointment as Senior Lecturer.
  • Should have normally supervised postgraduate degree candidates.
  • Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
  • Should show evidence of membership of professional societies.
  • Should show evidence of continued research and effective teaching.
  • Should be recognized and registered by relevant professional boards
  • Should show evidence of contribution to University life as well as national and international life.
(iii) Senior Lecturer
  • Should have a D.Phil degree or its academic equivalent, in any of the areas/fields of specialization indicated in the above named departments.
  • Must have at least 4 years of teaching or research experience at University level since becoming Lecturer.
  • Must have a minimum of 4 publications in refereed journals since appointment as a Lecturer.
OR
  • Must have a Masters degree plus 5 years of University teaching experience after becoming a Lecturer and 5 Publications since becoming Lecturer.
  • Should normally have supervised post- graduate degree candidates.
  • Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
  • Should show evidence of membership of professional societies.
  • Should show evidence of continued research and evaluated effective teaching.
  • Should show evidence of contribution to University life through active participation in departmental matters, student’s academic advising, School and University meetings committee membership and others.
  • Should be recognized and registered or registerable by relevant professional board.
(iv) Lecturer
  • Should have a D.Phil degree from Moi University or its equivalent from a recognized academic institution, in any of the areas/fields of specialization indicated in the above named departments.
OR
  • Must have a Masters degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least 2 years of teaching experience at University level after obtaining a masters degree and at least two publications in refereed journal(s).
  • Those with a Masters degree should register for a D.Phil degree.
  • Should be recognized or registered by a relevant professional board.
(v) Assistant Lecturer/ Tutorial Fellow
  • Should have a D.Phil degree or its equivalent from a recognized academic institution, in any of the areas/fields of specialization indicated in the above named departments.
OR
  • Must have a Masters degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least 2 years of teaching experience at University level after obtaining a masters degree and at least two publications in refereed journal(s).
  • Those with a Masters degree should register for a D.Phil degree.
  • Should be recognized or registered by a relevant professional board.
NB: Candidates from civil service or private sector with required number of refereed publications and a relevant experience could be considered for the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer as appropriate.

1. Bio Medical Engineering Technician

(1 Position) Grade 5/6

Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicant must have a certificate in Biomedical Engineering from a recognized institution must have a minimum of five (5) years experience, must be a computer literate. Courses in dental equipment shall be an added advantage.
  • Those appointed will be required to install, repair, maintain and service Dental Equipment and carry out induction courses on Dental Equipment for both staff and students. To undertake any other duties which the Dean or Head of Department will assign from time to time.
  • Those with experience in maintaining dental equipment in particular will have added advantage.
  • Must be detail oriented and have interpersonal skills.
2. Radiographer

(1 Position) Grade 5/6

Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicant must have Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography from a recognize institution, must be registered with Radiation Protection Board.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience. Must be detail oriented and good interpersonal skills. Experience in dental radiography and teaching will be an added advantage.
3. Pharmaceutical Technologist

(1 Position) Grade 5/6

Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicant must have a diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution, must be registered with Pharmacy and Poison Board,
  • must have at least five (5) year of experience and preferably worked in a hospital, must be a computer literate
1. Senior Assistant Librarian

(3 Positions) Scale 13
  • An officer at this level will be responsible for Management of Information Communication and Technologies (ICTs) at the college level within the University Community.
  • Duties and responsibilities will involve formulation of ICTs policies, planning and management of information systems, database management;
  • decision support systems (DDS);
  • office support systems (OSS) to support and deliver electronic information to end-users, networking services, supervision of staff, budget formulation and coordination of automation activities within the University Library Services.
Job Specification for Direct appointment
For direct appointment to this grade one must have:
  • Served in the grade of librarian (MU12) in a comparable and relevant position for at least five years and have a first degree in Library and Information Science.
  • Have a Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University
  • Five (5) years working experience in a well established and automated library/information centre at the level of Senior Librarian II or its equivalent
  • Published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals or a book;
  • Attendance to seminars/workshops on modern Information Resources Management;
Job Specification for Serving Officers
For promotion to this grade one must have:
  • Served in the grade of Senior Librarian II or in a comparable and relevant position for at least (3) years;
  • A Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University

2. Senior Librarian

(3 Positions) Scale 12

Job Description
  • An officer at this level will be responsible for Management of Information Communication and Technologies (ICTs) within the University Community.
  • Specifically, work at this level will involve, developing Information Technology Policies;
  • training other staff on the use and application of ICTs; planning and management of systems development; providing advancement support in use of electronic information sources and managing the library’s web pages;
  • online searching using the Internet; operating systems; website creation;
  • desktop publishing;
  • designing and realization of bibliographic databases;
  • software and hardware engineering services;
  • database management and operations;
  • directing the functions of micro computing, networking and systems, support services;
  • training and promotion of information technology;
  • executing and controlling information and services budget and all aspects of automation in University Libraries (LAN, WWW, Internet);
  • maintenance of ICTs.
Job Specification for Direct appointment
For direct appointment to this grade one must have:
  • A Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University
  • Four (4) years working experience in a well established automated library/information centre
  • Published at least two (2) articles in refereed journals or a book;

Job Description
  • An officer at this level will be responsible for abstracting and indexing;
  • cataloguing, classification and keeping statistics for borrowed publications;
  • maintaining user profiles; Current Awareness Services (CAS);
  • Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI);
  • estimating of expenditure and vote control; teaching library skills and user education;
  • ICTs services;
  • attending official meetings as may be required by the University Librarian.
Job Specification for Direct appointment
For direct appointment to this grade one must have:-
  • A Higher National Diploma in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University;
  • Five (5) years working experience in well established automated library/information centre
  • Evidence of scholarship and/or research in the area of one’s specialization
  • Be computer literate and show proof of working in an automated library.
Job Specification for Serving Officers
For promotion to this grade one must have:
  • Served in the grade of Senior Library Assistant (MU6) or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years;
