Under the general guidance of the Senior Adviser, Global Campaign on Children and AIDS, and in close coordination with the Global Campaign Management Group, responsible for providing consistent internal communication to and among National Committees, and for planning and development of campaign workplans (2011-2015) for programme, communications, advocacy and resource mobilization.
Qualification:
Advanced university degree in public relations, business administration or related academic areas. Eight years progressively responsible work experience in the planning and management of fundraising projects, including four years in developing countries, with practical experience in the adaptation and application of communication planning processes to specific programmes. Fluency in English and another UN language is required.
Key Expected Results:
Enhance the integration of Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS Campaign through directing the development, formulation and management of the Campaign strategy as well as planning and development of consolidated Campaign workplan consisting of programme, communications, advocacy and resource mobilization elements. Oversee the overall implementation of the plan and contribute to improved monitoring and reporting on Campaign workplans.
Provide both periodic and ad hoc specialist advise and support, in four priority areas commonly known as the Four Ps, on appropriate HIV and AIDS strategies, to Members of the Working Groups on: Programme, Communications, Advocacy, Resource Mobilization
Facilitate the achievement of workplan goals and objectives through development of short- and long-term outcomes; designing working group processes to contribute to the efficient attainment of those outcomes; and the use of appropriate tools, such as strategy papers, concept notes, master briefing files, UNICEF internet and intranet sites, etc.
Draft a communications strategy for national committees. Participate in defining internal and external communications goals and strategies that include media, the internet and intranet.
Act as focal point for National Committees and HQ (Brussels, NY, Geneva, Tokyo offices), regional and country offices. Maintain strong relationships with National Committees and its Standing Group, the HQ, regional and country offices on needs/progress in terms of the Campaign, with particular emphasis on identifying opportunities for partnerships for resources and results.
Maintain matrix on National Committees plans. Provide consistent internal communication among National Committees and ensure consistent campaign messaging for individual National Committee effort that is in syn with UNICEF’s messaging on HIV and AIDS.
Focal point for production and distribution of materials (print, electronic audio visuals). Lead efforts in developing Fundraising Kit, featuring country examples and success stories. Contribute to corporate publications, e.g. State of the World’s Children, Children on the Brink, World Fit for Children, etc.
Organize and lead national committee field visits.
Perform any other functions as directed by the Senior Adviser, Global Campaign on Children and AIDS.
