The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill three positions of Aviation Officer at the P3 level, which will become available in our Aviation Field Operations.
The Aviation Officers will be responsible for the following duties:
• Establish, operate and maintain an aviation management structure and system to facilitate the safe, efficient, cost-effective, responsive, client oriented air transport service for the air transportation of personnel and cargo;
• Establish, operate and maintain an aviation management accounting, budget and financial control system;
• Resource, contract and manage personnel, equipment and services for the support of air transport services;
• Implement safety programmes and processes;
• Implement UN regulatory, contractual and quality standards for air transport services;
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience Required Education:
• University degree preferably in Logistics and Transport Management, Aviation Engineering, Safety Management, Quality Assurance of Air Traffic Control, or graduation from equivalent civilian or military establishment.
• A Professional Pilot License (i.e. ATPL, CPL) or Engineering License or Air Traffic Controller License or Flight Dispatcher License.
Experience:
• At least five years with operations in the aviation industry with at least two years as a line supervisor. Aircraft schedule planning, air transport schedule planning, ramp management, passenger and cargo handling and administration, and implementation of safety programmes.
Technical Skills & Knowledge (desirable):
• Safety certification(s) in Air Operations/Airworthiness;
• Accident Prevention and Investigation;
• Dangerous Goods/Cargo handling.
Competencies:
• WFP’s core competencies for professionals include action management, communication skills and high standards of ethics and values.
Language:
• Proficiency/level C of English and intermediate knowledge/level B of another UN official language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Chinese) or WFP’s working language, Portuguese.
Terms and Conditions Selected candidates will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year.
