Involved in all aspects of any events held by the Secretariat, you will plan, co-ordinate, deliver and develop event services for the Head of the Commonwealth, Heads of Government and Ministers and pan-Commonwealth meetings in London, member countries and other capitals.
With at least seven years’ experience of conference management, you will have gained expertise in operational management, including financial management, commercial acumen and business development.
This is a very high-profile role in which you will interact with the Head of the Commonwealth, Heads of Government and UN and World Bank officials and liaise with all Secretariat Divisions ensuring high standards are met.
Managing a large team and several concurrent projects, you must have the ability to plan, direct and evaluate a complex operation; deal confidently, diplomatically and tactfully at the highest levels; initiate, organise, analyse and problem-solve even when under pressure; negotiate strongly, think creatively; and deliver to deadlines.
You will take the lead on protocol, ensuring that they are understood; develop and implement policies, strategies, guidelines and procedures; communicate effectively; travel internationally, sometimes at short notice; design robust feedback systems; lead and develop your team; and build and maintain a beneficial network.
Also, you must be able to operate effectively in our multi-cultural setting and be a national of a Commonwealth country.
