Description

The Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking to recruit a Resident Tax Administration Advisor to be based at the Southern Africa Technical Assistance Center (AFRITAC South or AFS), based in Port Louis, Mauritius.

The Advisor's appointment term would be for a period of one year, on a renewable basis, subject to satisfactory performance. The Advisor will be required to manage a program of technical assistance (TA) in a range of tax administration issues for the 13 AFS countries, namely Angola, Botswana,Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The Advisor will assist AFS member countries in the development and implementation of tax administration reforms.

The advisor's primary responsibilities will be to

• support the center coordinator and steering committee in developing and monitoring the AFS work plan;
• consult with tax authorities of member countries, including provision of direct technical assistance as needed;
• help member countries implement tax administration reform strategies designed in close coordination between these countries and FAD;
• provide backstopping support to short term tax administration experts recruited to deliver technical assistance to AFS member countries;
• manage the development and delivery of tax administration capacity building events such as regional workshops and seminars;
• coordinate with other technical assistance providers and their experts; and
• as required, represent FAD at the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) based in Pretoria
