Job Purpose
Head of Marketing & Corporate Relations will play a pivotal role in driving Barclays Bank Tanzania towards its goal of “One Barclays” and “Go To bank in Tanzania
The role is accountable for marketing, communications and citizenship excellence within Tanzania and responsible for representing the local franchise at a Barclays Tanzania. The individual will play a key role in the direct management of centrally held capabilities and in influencing the execution of marketing, communications and citizenship strategies within the countries.
Through a business partnership approach, you will provide best-practice, strategic marketing, communication and citizenship support to the business, helping the organisation to execute against its business objectives. The role will support Tanzania and its divisions in meeting business goals through optimizing investments in brand & marketing, communications and citizenship, including leadership, integration of and accountability for those respective functions.
The role reports geographically to the country MD and functionally to the respective functional Director
Main accountabilities
• Understand, own and bring to life Barclays brand strategy, positing and values within country through the three lenses of Marketing, Communications and Citizenship
• Contribute to business growth as a key member of Country Leadership team, by translating business requirements into marketing & communications objectives
• Lead development and execution of in-country marketing, communications and citizenship strategy, and associated annual plans with assistance via an insight led approach.
• Drive and develop content that is on message, on brand, accurate and tailored appropriately to the business needs, the target audiences and channels to be used, and ultimately acting as the gatekeeper of the brand franchise internally and externally.
• Drive the focus on Customer and Customer planning.
• Responsibility for leveraging our sponsorship assets to drive business & brand growth
• Engage and energize the colleagues around our mission, vision and strategy.
• Accountable for the governance and operating frameworks in Barclays Africa on brand and marketing, communications and citizenship.
• Ensure any activity is delivered on time and within budget and is evaluated against commercial objectives. Where possible, negotiate with agencies to ensure a cost-conscious approach, driving value-add deliverables
• Responsible for ensuring the marketing, communications and citizenship strategy is tactically effective.
• Provide clear direction on the marketing and brand objectives.
• Develop a network of internal and external suppliers in the context of delivery
• Own the internal communications space to cascade the key messages and the IKATU strategy.
• Develop strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure you understand commercial priorities and requirements for marketing and communications support
• Manage relationships with key business divisions across Barclays, supporting the development of cross division income opportunities and efficiency synergies
• Develop highly effective relationships with key contacts in Legal and Compliance in order to facilitate smooth implementation of legal and regulatory changes
• Maintain strong relationship with frontline contacts to ensure you have a good understanding of the best way to implement any product or service initiatives internally
• Work with partnership agencies to develop their knowledge and understanding of customers and <country>
• Work with colleagues across Africa to integrate and align plans and key messages

- Significant experience in Brand, Marketing and Communications in a senior management role, operating in a multinational business
- Detailed understanding of the external economic, political, legal and regulatory environment and its internal impacts in the regional and each country
Preferred
• In-depth understanding of Barclays Group and the Barclays Africa strategy, operating structure and interfaces with other functions/Ability to operate at strategic level in ambiguous/dynamic environment
