Implementation of the UWSSP is part of the national effort to reduce poverty, improve the health and quality of life of the urban population. It is purposely designed to enable the Government achieve its National Strategy for Economic Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NSGRP-MKUKUTA) targets and the country’s MDGs. The Government recognizes the importance of universal access to improved Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) and the need to develop institutions and methods capable of rapid expansion of sustainable water and sanitation services across the country.
