Tax Manager - Ernst & Young - Tanzania
Brief Description of Role
Ensuring the timeous processing of journals and other related entries into the accounting records and provide timeous and accurate response to queries with regards to the accounting entries generated into the accounting records.
To provide reconciliations for all legal entities of Ernst & Young and ensure that reconciliations reflect no long outstanding open positions.
To highlight any risk or opportunities within the accounting records to the Finance Manager or Finance Director on a timely basis.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure that all cashbook entries are processed timeously and that the cashbook is up to date at all times.
To ensure the timeous and accurate resolution with regards to queries arising from the business, pertaining to the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and General Ledger.
To broaden the knowledge and develop the skill sets within the bookkeeping teams.
Generate reports on PeopleSoft and Business Objects as and when needed.
To monitor and report feedback against the monthly finance timetable, ensuring compliance to timelines within agreed quality standards.
Communicate timelines to operations managers and ensure that timelines are realistic and are allowing the Finance Team to deliver and meet its expectations.
To adhere to a year-end timetable/hard close timetable as and when required to facilitate the accurate and timeous close of relevant accounting periods.
To ensure the timeous submission of the VAT online return.
To ensure the execution and review of selected Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
To ensure that reconciliations do not contain long outstanding, open irrecoverable open positions.
To ensure that all data is treated correctly and complies with Company policies and procedures and that accounting transactions are in accordance with accepted accounting practices.
To maintain proper accounting and reporting of assets and liabilities in terms of EY Global accounting guide and standards.
To provide corporate head office with all required information by designated deadlines and follow up on all queries.
Adhere to all deadlines set by management.
To perform investigative work on specific problems that may arise.
Build relationships with respective department admin staff.
To focus and provide a dedicated support line to the various business units in terms of the bookkeeping function.
Respect total confidentiality on all financial information.
To retrieve copies of journals as and when requested by Management.
Assists in the education of client serving individuals and support staff as appropriate.
Advise other staff on account allocations when necessary.
Keep up to date with GFIS developments.
To ensure compliance to fiscal laws and other regulatory requirements applicable to Finance.
To support Partner Affairs and the the Tax Manager with regards to any information that may be required from them to execute their functions.
To provide support to the Finance Manager, as and when required from time to time.
To fill in for the GL members when they are on leave.
