Education Coordinator , PCI Tanzania

PCI is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing disease, improving community health, and promoting sustainable development worldwide. PCI Tanzania is concluding the initial phase of Food for Education (FFE) three years program in Mara region. In partnership with Bunda and Musoma Rural District Councils, and with support from the United States Department of Agriculture

(USDA), PCI will implement an expanded, follow-on 3-year program (2013-2016).

This position will facilitate designing of program interventions and coordinate implementation

of activities to improve the quality of education through effective approaches including: strengthen technical and administrative capacity of teachers and school administrators; increase availability of school supplies and textbooks; pilot innovative approaches to engage out-of-school girls and evaluate effectiveness through operations research; build capacity of partners and stakeholders. To supervise and oversee local implementing partner in implementation of literacy-promotion activities including establishment of school libraries; production and distribution of local reading materials; and literacy promotion skills for teachers and pupils.

Qualifications and Experience

Master degree or equivalent in education. Experience managing educational support (teacher training) or continuing education programs.

5 years experience in managing or providing technical support to education and/or

development programming.

Strong understanding and up-to-date technical knowledge the education field. Technical ability in designing or adapting education and teacher-training related curriculum, and skills in facilitation and training of trainers.

Demonstrated experience interacting with government officials and community-based stakeholders; Excellent project management skills; Strong computer skills (MS Office); Working knowledge of monitoring and evaluation procedures and processes.

Excellent English skills (verbal and written)
