The Mothers Union of the Anglican Church of Kenya (MUACK) is implementing an Australian government funded maternal-child health (MCH) project with the nomadic pastoralist communities in Laikipia and Samburu.
The project will run till June 2016.
The MCH project has two vacancies for mature and skilled personnel seriously committed to improving the health of the mother and child.
The positions are based out of Maralal and will work in close communication with the head office in Nanyuki.
Project Officer
Reporting to the Project Coordinator the Project Officer will carry overall responsibility for successful implementation of the project in Samburu.
This involves:
- Manage Samburu project team including the Assistant Project Officer, Link Persons and Community Facilitators
- Work with the entire project team to deliver quality planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Support the Samburu project team to work with and build the capacity of Community Development Committee’s in each project site.
- Provide leadership and guidance towards improving the involvement of women in making decisions that affect their lives.
- Efficiently manage the finances allocated to the Samburu project site.
- Build strong networks and working partnerships with government departments, NGOs and other relevant organisations, particularly the Department of Health.
- Maintain strong and frequent communication links with the project office in Nanyuki. Submit regular progress reports including successes and challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a relevant Diploma, for example in fields such as Social Science or Development Management.
- Have at least three years experience in a comparative position.
- Have proven strong financial management skills.
- Speak, read and write fluent English.
- Be fluent in the Samburu language, and understanding of Samburu culture.
- Be computer literate, including use of the Microsoft Office suite and emails.
- Adhere to the highest standards of honesty, confidentiality and trust.
- A high level of self-organisation and motivation is necessary.
