Samaritan’s Purse began operations in Mozambique in 2000, responding to floods in Gaza Province. Since then SP has expanded its work to seven districts in Gaza Province and six districts in Inhambane Province. SP implements its community-based programs through a team of over 200 full-time staff and 5,000 community volunteers.
SP’s primary areas of intervention are food and economic security, water and sanitation, health and nutrition, orphans and vulnerable children, and ministry. In addition, SP specializes in providing rapid and effective disaster relief.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Liaison between SP and Governmental/Non Governmental authorities for collaborative programming on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse. • Monitor and actively search for upcoming agency “calls for proposals” and proactively inform the Country Directors, Regional Program Development Officer and Regional Director of upcoming opportunities. • Write concept papers, proposals, and project summaries in support of the Country Director. • Work with the Country Director, Program Managers, and Finance Officer to develop proposal budgets. • Work with Program Managers to ensure all projects are in line with SP’s Program Management Guideline. • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of quarterly program activities. • Coordinate assessments and conduct field visits in order to collect and verify data. • Analyze data and background materials in order to provide guidance and support to Program Managers and key decision makers. • Research and propose best practices in development programs and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operations. • Oversee updates of SP database that captures project details and geographical coverage of activities. • Provide surge capacity and assume additional responsibilities in the event of a natural disaster or crisis. • Assist the CD with various program activities as needed and when not directly engaged in Program Development activities. • Assist the Country Director with strategic planning and the implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of newly funded programs. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; advanced degree in related fields such as International Relations, International Health, Agriculture, Economics, etc.; three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • One year of college-level Biblical studies is preferred. • Experience working for humanitarian organizations. • Strong skills in analytical and strategic thinking; strong writing and presentation skills.
• Proven experience in proposal writing and Monitoring & Evaluation (including data management). • Good quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills; good communication skills. • Ability to develop and carry out work plans and solve problems independently. • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment. • Excellent knowledge of computer applications, in particular proficiency required in MS Word, MS Excel Power Point and statistical software (EpiInfo, SPSS). • Portuguese is highly desired.
