In order to reach its goals, the Company will, in the coming years invest heavily in its generation, transmission and distribution network, its business systems and human capital. TANESCO now invites applicants from serious, self-motivated, and honest, hardworking and, committed individuals to fill the under-mentioned posts at Tanesco 100MW, Ubungo Gas Fired Turbine Plant.

ELECTRICAL TECHNICIANS ( 2 POSTS)


POSITION OBJECTIVE

Responsible for installing, testing, operating, servicing, repair and maintenance of electrical control systems, instruments and, equipments of the power plant

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically you will be responsible for ensuring that you:

• To perform maintenance, adjustments and, repairs on electrical equipments.
• To operate, control and monitor thermal generating units and auxiliary equipments.
• To carry out load switching at power house.
• To check regularly the power systems according to the manufacturer instructions .
• To prepare and submit maintenance and status reports on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• To restore the system, in the shortest possible time during the system /Plant fault/outages
• Maintenance and test on circuit breakers
• Perform any other related work as assigned by supervisor.

Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills you must posses

• Holder of FTC or Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Form IV or IV Certificates
• Fresh up to 1 year experience.
• Makes realistic, practical, value-based decisions
• Prioritizes work and uses time efficiently
• Plans ahead to ensure that resources are available in time
• Excellent verbal and written communication.



MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN ( 1 POST)


POSITION OBJECTIVE

Responsible for efficient maintenance and running of the plant and at the point of maximum efficiency and in perfect condition..

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically you will be responsible for ensuring that you:

• Responsible for safe and economic of the plant maintenance and operation.
• To ensure company security, safety regulations are being observed all the time
• Responsible in preparing and managing scheduled preventive maintenance
• Responsible in managing plant and equipment safety systems.
• Responsible in making sure that discipline is always maintained at work places.
• Responsible for preparation of report regarding to plant operations on daily basis.
• Responsible for safety of tools and equipment assets of the company
• To supervise artisans and ensure they are adhered to company and plant safety regulations.

Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills you must posses

• Holder of FTC or Ordinary Diploma in mechanical Engineering.
• Form IV or VI Certificates
• Fresh up to 1 year experience.

PLANT OPERATORS ( 7 POSTS)



POSITION OBJECTIVE

Responsible for proper safe efficiency and economical operations of the plant.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically you will be responsible for ensuring that you:

• Ensure company security and safety regulations are observed during operations and switching procedures of station equipment
• To carry out load switching at power plant.

• Responsible in restore the system in the shortest possible time during system plant fault/outages in order to minimum outages
• Responsible in reporting to respective maintenance department any improper operation.
• Responsible in preparation and submission in time daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• To carry out system tests and visual inspections of equipments.
• To carry out minor maintenance of the equipments


Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills you must posses

• Holder of FTC or Ordinary Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
• Form IV or VI Certificates
• Fresh up to 1 year experience.
• Makes realistic, practical, value-based decisions
• Prioritizes work and uses time efficiently
• Plans ahead to ensure that resources are available in time
• Excellent verbal and written communication.












ELECTRICIAN ( 1 POST)


POSITION OBJECTIVE

Responsible for operating, planned maintenance works, controlling, maintaining, testing, trouble shooting, installing, and repairing electrical and control systems and electrical equipments in the power plant .
Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically you will be responsible for ensuring that you:

• Assist in performing minor maintenance, adjustments and repairs on electrical equipments to ascertain their condition and operation status.
• Participate in operating, and monitor thermal generating units and auxiliary equipments.
• To carry out load switching at power house.
• To check regularly the power systems according to the instructions by taking hourly readings of instruments, gauges etc.
• Carry our tests and r minor repairs on circuit breakers and ensure breakdowns are avoided.
• Perform any other related work as assigned by supervisor.


Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills you must posses

• Holder of trade test certificate grade 3, 2 or 1
• Form IV or VI Certificates
• Fresh up to 1 year experience.
• Makes realistic, practical, value-based decisions
• Prioritizes work and uses time efficiently
• Plans ahead to ensure that resources are available in time
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

















FITTER MECHANICS ( 2 POSTS)


POSITION OBJECTIVE

Responsible for ensuring effective maintenance of power plant for constant electrical generation.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically you will be responsible for ensuring that you:

• Servicing and repairing plant equipments.
• Continuous checking of plant equipments for preventive maintenance
• Report any fault noted in the plant equipments/engines(GT) /generators.
• Assist mechanical technicians in disassembling/assembling of plant equipments during maintenance.

Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills you must posses

• Holder of Trade test grade 11 /1 from a recognized institution VETA
• Form IV or VI Certificates
• Fresh up to 1 year experience.
• Makes realistic, practical, value-based decisions
• Prioritizes work and uses time efficiently
• Plans ahead to ensure that resources are available in time
• Excellent verbal and written communication.



PLANT CLEANERS ( 4 POSTS)


POSITION OBJECTIVE


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically you will be responsible for ensuring that you:

• Make sure the doors in all power plant buildings are always closed to keep out dust and dirties.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the Plant and auxiliaries in the powerhouse as follows:
-Cleaning the Gas Turbine area, GPRS area and associated floor/ platforms
-Cleaning the Control room, toilets, changing rooms and shift supervisors

-Cleaning the standby diesel generator area
-Cleaning the Workshop building floor and area.
-Cleaning all other areas inside the power house.
-Maintain and manage all waste containers in good conditions as per instructions given for overall waste management at the collecting bay.
• Participate in team work activities on repair and maintenance as directed by the supervisor.
• Observe safety regulations and ensure that the personal protective equipment is always used as intended
• You will be required to perform any other duty as you may be assigned from time to time.

Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills you must posses

• Minimum Form IV or VI Certificates
• Certificate of Trade Test in Electrical Installation or Fitter Mechanics.
• 1 -2 years experience.
• Makes realistic, practical, value-based decisions
• Prioritizes work and uses time efficiently
• Good Commanding verbal and written communication skills
