CARE is seeking an experienced Proposal Writer. S/he will serve as the primary writer for the development of competitive and non-competitive concept notes and proposals for CARE Burundi’s Women Empowerment and Children Empowerment Programs’ business opportunities, with key cross-cutting themes of Governance, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Gender. S/he will collaborate with the Program Quality and Learning Director (PQL-Director) to advance the Country Office’s (CO) program development process in line with the FY13-15 Strategic Framework. S/he will report to the PQL-Director and will work closely with the Program and Program Support teams.
Responsibilities: - Situation and Donors’ Awareness - Development of marketing/fundraising - Proposal Design and Writing - Perform any other duties as assigned by line manager or designate, especially when there are no calls for proposals
Required Skills: - Proven ability to successfully lead program development processes. - Demonstrated experience of writing winning proposals for various donors. •- Demonstrated experience developing multiple narrative and cost proposals simultaneously. - Proven ability to effectively manage stress and work in difficult hardship environment. - Solid understanding of donor compliance and key CARE program development procedures and standards. - Excellent negotiation, communication and decision-making skills - Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to consistently work as part of a team, especially under pressure. - Familiarity with requirements of key donors and capacity to work in a multi-donor environment, including EURONAID, DFID, ECHO, OFDA, AUSAID, USAID and CIDA. - Good program design skills, including capacity to prepare logical, coherent and consistent documents including log frames. - Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines under pressure. - Proven ability to work within a multicultural setting. - Information Communication Technology literate. - Budgeting experience. - Bachelor’s Degree in related field - Fluency in written and spoken English and French
